My graphics card is dying, it seems unlikely I will be able to get the original ( GeForce GT 420 ) will any card with HDMI & 2 gig memory be ok?

Depends what you are using it for? Games? In Which case which ones? Just general desktop use? What version of windows are you using? What processor do you have? How much RAM do you have in your machine?

In that case yes, 2mb & HDMI should be fine. Just make sure that any card matches up ok against your power supply unit.

I'd also suggest buying another 4gb of RAM for your PC. You're looking at £25 or so and it will make a big difference to the speed of your machine overall.

I've got a Sony digital HX200 camera which also does HD videos. I cannot play those videos through my pc or laptop, the processor will not handle the hd quality.
Through the hdmi on the tv it is perfect, just not the computers.
Make sure you get a card which will cope with hd, and make sure your pc processor can cope as well.
