Third! Have a bit of that! Only China and USA are ahead of us and their squads are twice the size of us. Also, 8 of USA's golds are down to Michael Phelps, without that freak of a bloke we'd be ahead of the USA.

    come on!

I noticed that earlier, think the USA total golds without Phelps would be shocking for a country of there size.

Can't believe Bolts time when you consider that he was slowing down, looking round and celebrating from the 80m mark. Imagine how quick the time would have been if he kept going at full speed to the line!!!

its a fantastic effort from ALL our athletes, even the non medal winners

because I think they will be there cheering on the team as a whole... I wonder what our team could do if they actually understood what the word TEAM does actually mean.

a lot would say that if Russia was stil USSR/CCCP then it would be different....but

even if that was the case we would stillbe 4th and thats still a great standing for our small islands athletes...especially when you realise the sizes of China and the USA and inded the old USSR/CCCP

They're all top, top folk. That canoe fella was here in our VT area the other night, well actually 1.00am, wandering about just asking how stuff worked. Nice lad. I think if I'd just won an Olympic medal, I'd be in some Beijing nightclub at 1.00am, giving it the big billy-B*ll*cks. Then again, I'm a ****.

    And yet

apart from possibly Paula Radcliffe, I don't think I could have named any of them before the games. They all seem to have been so comparitively low profile when set against other athletes in the past. Good on 'em all.
