Almost £8m donated so far by the Great British public to the Niger appeal fund. This comes after we were far and away the most generous per capita in donating to the tsunami appeal.
RE: However lets not forget Hang on, there's 10 bob down the back of the sofa......
And what is the 'international community' doing to help ?

RE: However lets not forget going on about international terrorism last time I heard. 7/7 knocked Live8 off the agenda.
of course not However, if we sort the neighbours out, we're are the famine victims going to go? Next door aren't they, I just find it odd, that one country gets all the publicity, but next door, where the exact same set of circumstancs are occuring doesn't get a mention. And of course, we know we're one of the most generous countries in the world for situations such as these. Just looking at the big picture mate.
Sorry Windy mate Ireland were the most generous per capita for the Tsunami appeal. Not trying to diss you on this but its the truth. Always seems to be Irish NGO's at the front end as well - GOAL, Concern, Trocaire etc. This country punches well above its weight charity wise. But good on the UK for its efforts. Pity Govnts don't follow their citizens examples.
YHM And you know how much that chokes me to have to type 'YHM'. I'll be doin****ome vigorous self-flagellation for that.
