It will be interesting how we perform against a team that don't give us as much space as yesterday. I would have come happy if we had lost because thats the type of performance I want to see.

The prices are down for watford game on Saturday £16 adults and £11 concessions. Hope to see a big increase in attendance then, but it did not happen last year for the cat. C games

You wont see much of an increase if people dont know its cheaper.

Could be that after being 'frozen out' through higher pricing that the 'maybe's' have lost the buzz or will to return. Turning up week in week out becomes a habit, just like staying away can be too. I agree that the moderation of pricing could spur a few more to come, but it would need to be on a more regular basis to actually keep them keen. If the team carries on doing well, then the increases in attendance would come hand in hand and therefor generate more interest. Affordability in the current climate must be made a priority to coax these fans back

Exactly. Effective advertising of up coming games might yield better attendances.

Instead of the usual small corner in the chron and a bit on the web site

The position of the club is this.........

..........they have experimented with lower prices and it does not have much affect
However, putting prices up has definitly had a detrimental effect. So the club needs to look seriously at this.
And regarding it becoming a habit to go to matches or a habit to stay away........yes thats right and its something that the club has to think long and hard about

There are thousands of Barnsley fans out there that have stopped going to the games because of one reason or another.
Sat in the bottom 6 for the last few years hasn't helped

Does anyone know the answer to the following (SuperTyke might)

Does the club have a database, and do they actively encourage people to sign up for it?

Do they have a Facebook page that posts regular updates? Are there any links to Facebook on the website?

Do they send regular e-mails to season ticket holders, and what do those e-mails look like?

    No they won't

Okay we might get a few more home fans next saturday, which will balance out the small travelling support. I reckon there will be 10,300 next weekend, which will prove, the club is justified in categorising games. I support there decision to introduce more Cat A games, however I can't understand why they needed to put the price up, and as a result, without the support of Leicester (who were supposedly boycotting the game), we'd have struggled to hit the 9,000 mark.

To be fair to the club I think they do all of those.

They use their facebook page extensively which has almost 9,000 likes. There's a regular email newsletter, twitter feed and obviously the website so I would say they have the internet marketing fairly well stitched up. I guess the club is less well covered with other types of advertising like these mobile boards Ive seen Wakefield Wildcats and other teams employ but these things do come at a price.

A good question..why put the price up?. Think the club would probably state that there are increased costs due to increased policing. Whether or not the size of the increase in the price actually covers the cost or exceeds it is anyones guess

I'm not one of those 9,000 for some reason - fixed that now though

In regards to the e-mail newsletter, how do I sign up for it? Looked on the website, but nothing asking me to sign up to hear all the latest news.

Funnily enough, as a season ticket holder for 10+ of the last 15/16 seasons, the only e-mail I receive is from Fulham FC!

You can manage the subscription with your login to the official site, if you have one.

I'm suprised you don't get Leeds United email updates. I know they are very close to your heart! ;)

Perhaps we as supporters should help spread the word, how many would be happy to put up posters in their community work place etc or even persuade friends / family to come down

just a line on the policing costs..
during the SYP twitterthon yestdy, they said it was a low risk game, with little police presence. so IMO the Leicester game being CAT A is down to them having money, big name players/manager..

The pricing on that evidence then is surely unjustified. The club is shooting itself in the foot. You would like to think on normal pricing that there would have been at least a 13000 gate yesterday
