From LJ's post match interview... *Winnall back Saturday *Hourihane close but maybe a game too early for him *Davies just a niggle, should be fine for Saturday *Williams maybe a little longer *Jackson here as a favour, lives local *Holgate still our player, reintegrated into the first team, hoping to change his mind and get him to sign *Digby due back at the weekend, again, still our player and will be part of our squad unless (and same applies with Holgate) a club buys him *Says we're a couple of players away from being 100% *Knows exactly what he's doing, where we're at etc *Saturday will be much better gauge of where we are, as Boro are "the 23rd Premier League club" I saw Huddersfield tonight. The lad Dempsey was bright and energetic, very raw/green though and not (IMO) anything better than Scowen. It was the dullest 0-0 I've ever endured, and I was gagging for Powell to take Jacob off so I could go home. Which he did after 78 minutes. They're not in Boro's class, but they'd walk League One. Ideal opposition I think. Looking forward to seeing how we match up. Chuffed that Winnall's likely to play though. Bring it on.
Talked a good game last season did Johnson and we went on a bad run of form. Continues to speak a good game as you'd expect from an "head coach" however it's only what we see on the pitch that matters (otherwise Keef would be a premiership manager) not what is said and what we've seen so far hasn't been good.
Hudds will be a better and fairer test imo, I'd take Simeone but i really hope he isn't the 'ambitious' signing.
Kinel. I thought him telling us Winnall, Hourihane and Davies were all practically fit was good news. Seems not. As for you banging on about him talking a good game, the bloke's only been in charge about 6 months and we've not lost many. I'm being patient and giving him a chance, I hope the owner does too, but of course he must have us playing amazing football and winning every week for some folk. Miserable bunch.
Does LJ think there's 22 teams in the PL, or does he think boro are the 3rd best side in the championship?
Good news indeed. We badly missed those players tonight. We were in it first half but they just upped their game after the break and it was all over by the 50th minute. Saturday should be better.
And that my friend is what the game is all about, what is delivered on the field of play. Early Days yet
What happens on the pitch is most important. I couldn't give a monkeys about last night but come the start of the season we need to be getting it right on the pitch.
Talk is cheap he's still 4 players short of being competitive imho, full back position looks weak, we've loaded our midfield with several very similar players and in any league you're only as good as your strikers so unless we are expecting Winall to score 30 goals from the wing we need a proven goal scorer or 2 sharpish. Pre-season is no gauge but having let so many go and suggested we would be looking at 10 to 12 additions, Im underwhelmed so far and we've a tough-ish start to the season, I wouldnt be surprised to see us languishing again in bottom 6 and panicking in the loan market just like last season.
Re: Great news! Fantastic news about the injuries as they are all vital players for us as is Holgate. I like LJ and hope he succeeds. I am a little concerned when he says we only need a couple of players. He's either bluffing or hasn't noticed our squad is thinner than a Russian Supermodel on a speed only diet.
He'd sooner watch the Udders than the Super Reds! Having said that there's nowt wrong wi a decent pair of Udders
