Just thought some praise was due for our Coaching, Academy and Development staff. The introduction of Bobby and Disco alongside the fantastic ongoing work of Ronnie, Bunny and Hecky (and others) is working wonders in our academy and u21 team. Just to talk about the recruitment side of things. After training on Thursday an 11 vs 11 trials match took place on the 3G pitch. I believe the match was set up by Bobby Hassell. The match included mixed teams from our own academy and players who had been released from other clubs and possibly some from Barnsley college. The lads were given a really professional warm up by the academy fitness coach and then given their chance to impress. The match was watched with our first team (including LJ) and academy staff around all areas of the pitch. They each had a note pad and pen are were making scouting notes on the players. The lad Otis Khan we have signed impressed from the off and I was sure at the time he'd be asked to come back at least. Unfortunately it was bitter cold that day so I only saw the first half but from what I've heard a few of the other lads impressed as well. Another thing to note was the first team stayed out and watched the first half of the trial match from the stand. You could tell the bond between them all was fantastic and massive credit has to be given to LJ for that. There is a genuine feeling of togetherness between them which was great to see. Finally massive credit to LJ for the rapport he's built with club legends such as Disco and Bobby. He could have easily sensed a threat and shunned them as previous managers here have. Instead he's embraced them a built up a great working relationship. I honestly think we're in a position to build something fantastic at the minute. With Ronnie, Bunny, Hecky, Disco and Bobby we have 5 men there who genuinely love this football club and are loved around the town. There is no way they would let this club sink whilst they're here. LJ fits in perfectly with that team. If you speak to him he's the same type of character. He will always put himself forward for a chat and like those he doesn't think he's above the fans. Lets ride this wave of form and give LJ the chance to build something special as I'm certain he's onto something here.
yes, us fans need to do our bit now, whats gones gone , lets get Oakwell rocking and hopefully the first team want to stay and the young talent wants to come here, #youreds
I don't think that it is just coincidence that there has been an upturn in first team results and performance since bobby came back to the club. Same as it was no coincidence that things began going badly wrong when bobby was being frozen out by the club.
