I've voted but is it really open to debate?

And I didn't say 'twit'. The last time I said that I was about 6.

Probably not it looks cut and dried already. But we must remember managers from 20 years ago.

I'm the one who voted for Bassett.

85 goals in a season! Have that!

Allan Clarke started the ball rolling

& essentially built the side that just missed out on promotion to the original Division 1 in the early 80's.

Anyone else remember that great clip from the Yorkshire TV Sporting Awards? Dave Basset sitting next to David O'leary who'd just won the Manager of the Year award, "If Darren Barnard had scored that penalty, I'd have won that!" Pure class!(Y)

    I love Bassett.

A very good manager and a really decent, amusing man. Remember too that he rejected Blackburn to stay with us.

RE: Allan Clarke started the ball rolling

Clarke inherited the nucleas of a good side, from Jim Iley, who would probably have won the promotion if he had been given the money and leeway that Clarke was given.

    Can't really remember Jim Iley

But I take your point about Clarkey inheriting the nucleus of a good side, after all, from memory, I think he only added 2 signings of his own to the side that was already there. Not including himself of course!
