I think it comes down to hope and expectations. You hope good players will drive a team on and win matches. Great players you expect to do great things and win you matches. Who are Barnsley greats? Players you know (there could be one ) and knew were match winners?
David Currie. Glavin, Easter Monday about 80/81 ish. At Hillsborough. And of course............................Rammel.
For me going from 94/95. Andy Payton, Neil Redfearn, Ashley Ward, Craig Hignett, Adam Hammill and Connor Hourihane. There have been other good players but I expected those players to perform.
Only Redders for me since I've been watching the Reds, with honourable mentions for Hammill and Higgy.
On the goalscoring front other than those already mentioned. Mick Butler. Brian Joicey. Both close to 1 every 2 games.
Tommy Taylor whose goal scoring for the Reds, Man Utd and England made him one of the all time greats.
On the subject of Ally Millar, those who watched him, can you all remember the “Ali, Ali, Ali,” chants when we got a free kick just outside box?.....he wasn’t bad at taking them in his prime.
