Neither has Sam Morsy been picked for Egypt… therefore only 2 players have been called up for international duty. Remind me again why we agreed to have the game postponed prior to any squad being announced? Ipswich have well and truly pulled the wool over our eyes here, what’s the chance we can get the game back on now at such late notice? @YTBFC surely the club are fuming about this?!
Common sense should absolutely prevail here. The fixture should now be reinstated, simple as that. It won't be, and we'll be getting di(ked yet again by the authorities. But it should be.
Yep, don’t care if it’s within 7 days or not now they’ve tried pulling a fast one, failed. The game should go ahead.
Problem is it would now cause problems for us. Our fans will have made alternative arrangements, our training schedule will have been altered, stewards won't have been rota'd on for saturday etc. Some kind of explanation needs to be given though because it just can't be right calling games off on the off chance someone might get a call up.
I don't even know for sure how much of a a role Ipswich have played. Maybe they just played a straight bat and made a call in their best interest, which is fair dos. But there's no way anyone can now justify the match still being postponed. Yet again, a rule change needed here. Point of postponement should come when the actual travelling squad is confirmed, not just the provisional one.
Apologies if I’ve read it wrong, like the rest of us not happy. There needs to be a statement about this shortly though, you’re right. It doesn’t sit right at all. It quite frankly stinks.
How can you have a game called off on the basis that a player may get an international call up? Its like us asking for a game to be pulled cos we suspect Gareth is watching Brad Collins Herbie Kane and Devante Cole.
Inconvenience either way, I would imagine. Yet again, the procedure has proven to be fundamentally flawed, and yet again we've been on the wrong end of it.
to be honest i don't think i've ever heard of a game being postponed for call ups before the squads have been announced or a game being postponed and the affected club only naming 2 players in their statement. I reckon that the procedure isn't flawed but simply hasnt been followed
Not sure we actually get a choice, sure EFL and rest of clubs would be up in arms if two teams just decided between them to postpone. If we did have a day perhaps the club felt a Tuesday fixture would be better as Ipswich are more likely to bring less fans?
