Got my ticket for the Leeds game today which will mark the 50th current football league ground I've visited. I'm 21 so reckon I'm doing alright for my age, only 4 left in the Championship now (Leeds, Bournemouth, Wigan and Derby), will definitely be doing Derby and will try to do Wigan as well. Would like to get all 92 one day. How many have other people done? Anyone got the full set?
Arsenal Highbury Barnsley Birmingham Bolton Chelsea Chesterfield old and new Coventry Highfield road Crystal Palace Man Utd Sheff Utd West Ham Wigan Wembley old and new.
I've got 9 to go, watching Barnsley although I have been to Leeds ground before for a cup game with my cousin. Some of them are odd ones too like Blackburn and Bolton, easy northern clubs to get to. I find myself going to the same grounds a lot. Leicester, been to that ground 4 time.
That's pretty impressive, Wellsie. I have been to 58, but a lot of those are defunct now (Pride Park, Burnden Park, Millmoor, Maine Road, Ayresome Park, Vitoria Ground, Goldstone Ground, The Dell to name a few), plus a few non-league (Caernarfon, Aldershot). Oh, and I've been to Boundary Park over 20 times - do I get any bonus points? Not likely to get to 92 now, I'm afraid. Would like to get to a Scottish game or two at some point, too.
I'd been to about 50, give or take, by the time I was 21. I'm now 41 and I've been to about 50, give or take. That's not to say I haven't seen us play any away games since then. It's just, will I go to see us play again at Hillsborough or Bramall Lane or The City Ground or Pride Park? Probably, yes. Will I ever travel all the way to Selhurst Park? Probably not, no.
75 for me, but should be 78 in a couple of months (Wigan, Newport and Swansea planned). Not quite close enough to be planning weekends away in Torquay or Exeter yet though. The influx of new teams in League Two over the past few years has pushed me down. Hoping Wrexham, Luton and Grimsby replace some of them soon!
78 current ones, plus quite a few former league teams that are now in non-league etc. All watching the reds, difficult to complete the full set now there's promotion & relegation from / to conference.
I lived down in Luton last year so managed to do some of the harder ones like Brighton, Ipswich, Charlton, Palace, Cardiff. Even though they're all still 2 hour trips it's better than 4 hours.
I moved back up here a few years ago after 15 years in Brighton & London and specifically visited Leyton Orient for an FA Cup game (they have a great little bar under the stand) before moving, as it was the last league club east of Cheltenham in the south and south of Nottingham on the east that I hadn't been to. The rest were in the south west, west midlands and the north. However, there's now Stevenage, Crawley and AFC Wimbledon down there that I haven't been to. Bit annoying as I used to be married to a girl from Crawley!
Don't waste your time trying to do it young un....when you've got Workington and Southport on your grounds visited CV..and still loads missing, you'll realise it's not worth the effort
I visited 71 between 1977 and 2010, including many now non league sides. Most of the grounds I visited were when I was a miner and single as I had money to burn. I also watched every game away from home in the P.L. what a season that was. Obviously living away from England now, those figures won't change in the near future!!!!!
I'm 29 and I worked out that I'd done roughly 55 of the current grounds, and there's quite a few places that I've been to no longer exist (Baseball Ground, Burnden Park, Main Road etc). Next time i'm likely to get to a game of any sort is Xmas 2014, so I doubt i'll be able to tick many more grounds off the list!
Did the 92 about 20 years ago. Since then been to most of new ones, still a few to go to To join the official 92 club you have to go to all current grounds which means that you have to go to Shrewsbury etc again despite going to the old Gay Meadow Seen Barnsley on over 80 of current set Getting older though, no longer 21!!!
Yep, av got Southport, old Darlington, Wimbledon and Newport grounds on mi CV..plus Plymouth and Carlisle ....Mi fave old ground was Scunny's Old show ground
Make hay while the sunshines young man. I got to 43 grounds before I got married. 8 years of marriage.......45 grounds and that includes Millmoor and Highbury....So still 43 current grounds I guess.
70 current ones about 10 defunct ones. Once thought I'd do them all but now realise it's virtually impossible or is for soneone with limited funds/time given promotion from conference.
Keep meaning to sit down and work it out, I'd say between 25-30. As with others, I find myself going back to grounds I've already been to before. It's mainly the London clubs I've rarely visited simply because of the cost of getting there (don't do coaches) is ridiculous unless you book well in advance - my away travel plans tend to be made the day before the game.
http://www.footballgroundmap.com/ Yep, I used that site. And I've visited 77 English grounds (not including Wembley, twice, or the Millennium Stadium). But only about 50 as a BFC fan. At least 15 are non league from my playing days as a youngster - Parkgate, Arnold Town, Hall Road Rangers, Tadcaster etc. Proper grounds them. Only been to The Stadium of Light in Portugal in terms of foreign stadia. But then, I've only been to Portugal and Morocco so it stands to reason. Plenty I haven't yet been to. Some beauties, White Hart Lane, Stamford Bridge in particular. Always wanted to do Craven Cottage as well. In fact, it's the London stadiums in the main that I've not visited. Although I did do Highbury. Reight ground.
