Sat in the West Lower as i usually do but even before half-time they had sold out of burgers, certain pies and a few other bits with very little choice. I think its shocking that knowing they have a big crowd they can't provide adequate catering, but hey its typical Barnsley!

    Plus.......

home ends sold out and still the same amount of catering staff as you get with any other match. The catering company should have put more staff on. The queues we massive and it puts you off buying something when you have to wait for ages for it.

    Depends

On whether the club bothered to tell the catering company how many people to expect.

The club will have known full well they were going to get 18K plus and probably didn't bother to tell the catering company!

Why should they tell the catering company?

It's the catering companies business to determine the demand. If they don't ask the correct questions and make the right decitions, that's their fault, not the club's.

Is that how the club should be run then?

Loads of barnsley fans: You sold out of pies again, your customers arent happy.
Club: its the catering companies responsibility not ours.
Fans: did you tell them about the increased demand today?
Club: its THEIR responsibility to check, not ours.
Fans: We're YOUR customers. Is it too much trouble for you to look after us?
Club: **** off. Next week only fans with a colchester stub can have a pie

    LOL

A short call from the club to the catering company to tell them to have more staff on and bring more food would only take a couple of minutes. Just because catering is sub contracted out, does not mean the club shouldn't try and keep the fans happy.

Its a two way thing and communication is obviously lacking. The catering company should check but if the club knows that increased demand is likely they should warn the catering company as Dreamy said a 2minite phone call is nothing.

    Listening to some people

you'd think that the club has no say at all about the cetering. It's like we've took the money and that space is now the catering company's to do with as they please. If they decide to up prices to 50 quid a pie then tough, bfc cant stop them. If they decide to close completely against swansea then tough, the club cant do anything about it.

I doubt very much that we would give them a contract that allows them to do as they please

We Still Don't Have Railings For Proper Queuing

Instead we have young kids getting squashed when grown ups try pushing in and catering staff who don't know who to serve next.

Not only that, some staff are ignorant and rude and can't add up as i have been given the wrong change a few times! Whatever happened to service with a smile!

I find the staff themselves to be pretty good. A drink only queue might be a good idea as well. Saves getting stuck behind people asking for food that's already been sold out.

It's all very well saying that

but people could have starved to death out there at Oakwell. Or suffered chronic pastry related malnutrition. It's a scandal. Waistlines were shrinking left right and centre I tell thi.

Well, that would be my stance

You can't be suggesting that the catering company didn't know they were in for a bumber pay-day can you? Maybe they were at full capacity for the hot foods...

If you read my original post I said it depends on whether the club told them or not about the big crowd. They might have done for all we know.

Maybe the Caterers thought the food boycot included all areas of the ground

And loads of food would have been wasted. :D :D :D
