yes i have all the Neil Diamond albums on both vinyl and cd and most of them cassette as well, what do you want to know?
To me it's a superb album side 1 on the lp is normal style songs inc Craklin Rosie but side 2 is called the African Trilogy and is ND's interpritation of African music, using African instruments, choirs etc, most of the tracks are instrumentals, its not a typical ND ak=lbum but when released in 1971 was years ahead of its time, some 14 years before paul Simon's Graceland, although the PS album is more traditional south african music and is excellent
RE: To me it's a superb album Martin loaned me "In My Lifetime" and disc 2 is the one I am playing in the car constantly. There is also the "Play Me" boxed set for £15.99 the contains all six (?) albums he did for Universal.
The play me set is superb value for money if you got that plus say Beutiful noise, Seranade, 12 songs (his new cd), the jazz singer and Tennessee moon you would have everything worth having, BUT you would need Hot August Night, the greatest ever live album in the world (my avator is the cover), if you want 1 or 2 copying i can do that
Thank You Graham I ordered the "Play Me" set for £15.99. I can get Hot August Night for less than a tenner at MusicZone. However, I hope it is better than Hot August Night II - I wasn't impressed at all with that disc. He seems to be shouting quite a bit (rather than singing) and the overall mix is rather too "wet" for my tastes. Stephen
RE: He gets commission for everything he sells you!!!! You still awake? Most regrettable that I didn't get to meet you last week. I just got back from town. Had a nice evening with Spartacus & Windy. Also ran into Tyrone. Sadly, The Albatross had gone home for his beauty sleep.
Steve, HAN is nothing like HAN2 which as you say is poor, the shouted lyrics (which he still does live) and those abysmal electronic drums dont help, HAN is pure quality from the overture to the finale, great versions of the songs, Holly Holy is the greatest thing he has ever commited to vinyl, get it bought, you know it makes sense
