Said to my dad on way to match on Sat that he would be demoted and we would end up with him.

Wonderful. I'm really looking forwards to the weekend now. Even more than I was before.

With a bit of luck Ramage will be fit, he can fly in two footed and injure Ishmael Miller and Marriner will send Kennedy off. Job's a good 'un.

This demotion that referees get, its just a slap on the wrist for one game and then they're back.

Marriner was truly awful at Hillsborough and his mistakes justified demotion back then, but where does he end up? Chelsea v Arsenal.

    Joke.

Probably will be our game. It will be like Graham Poll being our Colchester ref, giving a player a yellow card and the whole ground singing "two more. You only need two more".

Mark Clattenburg defended his fellow referee Andre Marriner for sending off the wrong player in Saturdays match between Chelsea & Arsenal it's understandable he said they all look the same to me

In which case, Clattenburg wants an eye test and if he fails, **** him off.

The difference though is that Poll was generally a decent ref and just made one monumental **** up he had a good game in our match at Colchester
Mariner on the other hand is just a poor ref - not quite as bad as Durso or Rennie but not much better

    totally agree

Poll was a good ref... we are all capable of mistakes its human nature, Mariner too. But one who I will never give that leeway to is the Willard. I know it was not right, and the guy was totally out of order, but I do not think many of our fans that day would have been too upset if that guy who went on the pitch had actually got there and chinned him.

Do the bookies have a market on the game being decided by a referee howler? Nailed on if he gets our game.

has he not been retained on the prem list?

I suppose there is an argument - and not one I particularly advocate - that the FA risk undermining the credibility of the premiership refs by seeing Champ or lower refereeing as a demotion and by keeping him on the prem list it draws a line under the whole thing quicker. Granted it's been done in the past but it's only the press and public that call it a demotion - generally the FA just keep schtum don't they?
