He only got the job in the first place thru battering us at Carrow Road

He could have been in Tenerife at the time supping on a margarita and they'd still have battered us, such is our record there.

Feel a bit sorry for the lad. Least he'll get a **** load of cash off Delia.

Delia Smith fires Gunn... if you can't handle the heat stay outta the kitchen

She'll be cooking up a tasty replacement.... some unknown welsh geezer who manages a championship club.

    Gunn gets bullet....and a rant!!!!!

What an absolute farce! As I read it, being a resident of Norwich, this is what happened:
    1) Roeder loses dressing room and some of his marbles with the stress - all comes to a head with the cup defeat by Charlton (were they a jinx for the Canaries last season?).
    2) Whilst we were all hoping that mass demonstrations before, during and after our away win at Carrow Road would signal the end of the Roeder era, the blighters went and sacked him before our game and it was "step forward Bryan Gunn."
    3) We duly oblige the Canary legend by bowing ever so low to him and his average team with our poorest performance of the season, losing 4-0 and, lo and behold, Gunn gets the job for the rest of the season - Canary safety is guaranteed under the former legend - Championship safety assured!!!!
    4) No significant improvement is sustained, as no other team rolls over quite as easily as we did -
    5) All comes down to the last game of the season - Davey gets the Tykes to click, whilst Gunn picks as bizarre combination of players out of position and inexperienced youngsters at Charlton - that 'goal machine' and former Oakwell record scorer (joke), Deon Burton is given the freedom of the Valley and scores a hat trick, putting Norwich down - a mate of mine has bothered to take a banner saying, "Thanks, Delia! Prudence with NO ambition" and it is featured on the Sky Sports high=lights, along with a very 'pee'ed off' looking mate of mine.
    6) Ah, well! It's close season, so surely the board will see sense and not bow to sentimentality and appoint a new boss - Adie Bothroyd, or Paul Ince would fit the bill, but no!!!!
    7) The result of the board meeting at Norwich is issued the day after two excellent members of the board, Mumby and Doncaster, have resigned, saying that they believe it is time for a 'fresh start' at the club.
    8) It is only with the announcement of the permanent appointment of Gunn that the reason for their resignation is known - sentimentality is no basis on which to take decisions about managing a football club - especially sentimentality from the glorious past
    9) 9th August 2009 - the evidence is clear on the pitch as a totally unmotivated and disorganised Norwich engage in defending which would make the Keystone Cops look like the SAS - they lose 7-1 at home and the final goal demonstrates the woeful lack of commitment - have a watch - a non-tackle by the full back; another non-tackle by a defender and what on earth was that Aussie goalie trying to do (come to that, have a laught at his attempts with most of the previous six)
    10) Sanity restored with 4-0 thumping of Yeovil - oh! well! A reprieve for Gunn - Championship football, here come Canaries again!
    11) Board sack Gunn!!!

I imagine they will be on the phone to Mumby and Doncaster pleading for their return and with sorrow at their error! Trouble is, both have other jobs now.

The Norwich board should have been bold enough to appoint a different manager in the close season. Can it get worse. And poor fella coming in to take over - he only needs to get them back into the Championship!!!

Post script to this fairy tale of indecision - just add respect to the Barnsley board for avoiding putting this club through a farce like this one! CRYNE DAVEY AM BYTH as the Welsh say!!!! And just think - if we had not lost at Norwich, none of this might have happened. Norwich might still have been safely in the Championship and we ...... well!

Isn't footie a funny old game? Not if you're from Norwich, it isn't!

He was seen as the 'prudence' part of Delia's 'prudence with ambition - so, no - you're right, but

so was Neil Doncaster in the end!
