I'm only 44, don't smoke, not overweight much, cycle every weekend, so it was a bit of a shock, had a stent put in and I don't feel too bad now, so fingers crossed.
Had to miss wolves of course, and as I can't drive for 4 weeks should miss next 2 home games, but may get a mate to drive me up from derby/burton area.

As a st holder, should be able to get a city ticket, but a bit awkward to get there, so I'll be giving it a miss and some non st holder will get a chance, hope you have great day whoever you are.

    COYR.

Bl00dy h3ll mate I bet that was a shock, I hope every thing goes well from now on, maybe the fact that you are fit went in your favour. On a lighter note being a st holder at the well will not help your nervous sysytem, so, I'd give the well a miss for a while.:D:D:D. Seriously, take care, follow the docs advice and get well, don't worry about missing the city match, plenty of matches to watch in the next 40/50 years.

Sorry to hear that mate. I live in Church Gresley and get up to Oakwell when I can so maybe we could share a lift sometimes.

I'm 56 and cycle regularly (almost every day in the summer), are you in a club?

    Hi brush,

I live in Hilton, so maybe could share a lift sometimes...
I'm not in a cycle club, not that serious, just go out with mates on the lanes around here, and we try to do a longer distance ride once a year, did c2c two years ago and first leg of Pennine cycle way in both directions last year. We were looking to do way of roses this year, but I'll have to see how rehab goes first, hopefully I can still make it...

    Cheers,
    Ade

    Hi Ade,

I'm not in a club either but I ride with members of Burton Camra the last friday night of the month taking in several pubs with decent beer - so you can see what sort of cyclist I am..... I'm sure you'd be welcome to join us when you're fit again if you fancy it.

I've done several rides over 60 miles and am planning to do a "ton" this year, it just happens to be 100 miles to Cleethorpes (downhill with the prevailing wind behind) so I'm going to have a go. Planning to do "The Reivers" at spring bank holiday with a school mate from Wath Grammar. A couple of years ago me and a mate cycled from Cherbourg to St Malo over 4 days (200Km).

Went to Bristol on saturday (a mate lives there so I go to most Reds games at Ashton Gate), shambolic defending....

    "as I can't drive for 4 weeks "

Did you have the stent fitted at the same time as you had your heart attack or later? I had a heart attack last July and had the stents fitted straight away and was told I could resume driving straight away under a new ruling..

If you have the stent fitted later you do have to wait six weeks I was told..

Sorry to hear that and hope you are better soon. A colleague of mine had a heart attack a few years back, although in his mid 50's he's one of the fittest people I know, cycled 10 miles a day to work and it happened when he was cycling home. What I want to let you know from this is that he is even fitter than he was before, taking a bit more care on his diet and last year he did a cross country cycle ride.

I had a scare a couple of weeks ago, had chest pains and went to the hospital, fortunately nothing showed up on ECG or blood tests.

The stent was put in within a couple of hours, but the guy who did it said not to drive for 4 weeks, so i've got to follow his advice really, been signed off work for 7 weeks.

Both the district nurse and my doctor confirmed the ruling - I would check again - evidently it is a new decision they have made recently.
My doctor didnt even know about it until he checked. I am 77 and started driving again within a few days.

Hope you get well soon. I hope you change your mind and try and get to the game. I'm sure someone would drive you there??? Be just the tonic you need after what you've been through.

So sorry to hear that, Ade

But pleased you're feeling better. Don't rush anything. Football & work will still be there once you're fit again.
    All the best, mate.
