Would Keith Hill still be so negative about him, or would he be raving about him almost every match like the fans are. It seems However well Vaz plays Hill just always has a downer on him. Like hes trying to talk down his performances to put other mangers off. If this is the case I can understand why but surly such comments will start to have an effect on Vaz Te has he thinks he cant do owt right. Im sure if he had signed 2-3 years Hill would be telling everyone how fantastic he is. I actually think Vaz does work well for the teams and tries to help out the defense. hes definitely NOT awful without the ball has Hill recently suggested
I think its to keep his feet on the ground and tell him he still as improvement in him and he need to work work work to get the very best out of himself and become a top player, i think Hill & Flickcroft feel that he's just coasting along and not giving his all and wasting his chance to be a top class footballer
Whatever he's doing it's working - he has turned into a good championship player and he could be useful for us in the run in
Hill seems to have a very strange way of dealing with players and treats different players differently. One bad performance from Hassell and he's dropped, a string of bad performances by McEveley and yet he continues to be picked. A series of missed sitters by Davies are swept under the carpet, a missed chance by Done is criticised. Vaz Te gets fouled and complains to the ref, Hill shouts at him from the touchline telling him to get on with it, Gray does the same and nothing is said. He must have his reasons and it appears to be working but I can't fathom it myself.
Hill seems to fancy himself at the phsycological side of things and aslong as results go our way, that's fine by me. I guess he reacts to things and talks about players in a way which he believes motivates them best.
When McEverly had a string of bad performances He was dropped and loan listed. Since he's got back into the team he's been much imrpoved imo. Still lacking a bit defensively, but i've started watching the extended highlights of every match on player, and he seems to make at least 1 game saving tackle a week. In the long run, it's an area we'll have to strengthen in, but for now, I think McEverly is more than adequate.
A man of your genious can't fathom it there's no chance for us mortals then. Hill is a master psychologist simple as that. He works hard to get the best out of players. Some need a hug and some need a boot up the rear. He knows the personalities of his players much better than we do and acts upon it.
