Argentinian side, Newell's Old Boys will sign Barnsley midfielder Diego Leon. They sent a scout to the West Ham vs Barnsley FA Cup third round tie and as Diego Leon was very impressive with him also hitting the cross–bar. Ex Argentina national coach, Roberto Sensini will sign the player for £1m. The deal will happen next Tuesday as Diego Leon will travel to Argentina for a medical on Monday.
There may be one problem though. Leons' wife, a Germa n supermodel, doesn't like the idea of moving to South America so it may turn into a loan move until the summer.
At the moment, the deal is permanent and that is what all three parties have agreed on.

We've no chance of getting a million for Leon. Another daft rumour I feel.

That won't be true..............but I would take a million for him! He does come up with decent set plays & bits of skill but doesn't have the pace & can't tackle lol

We could use the money for a TOP striker! We have a good midfield as it is with Anderson, Colace, JCR, Disco & Bobby. We could do with someone with more pace who can score goals...Carlos Edwards etc!

    Bobby Hassell

He's definitely improved with experience in the midfield position over the last couple of months.

have you been to the last few games?

hassell has performed brilliantly since colace has been out and has proved he is more than capable of stepping in when necessary. it sounds to me like you have a problem with davey, odejayi and hassell...and no matter what they do to prove you wrong you will always say they're *****/clueless. you're always waiting to say i told you so.

i'll await your reply about to the tune of "what has odejayi done to prove me wrong"...just save it.

And what has Odejaye done to prove himself?

Bobby has the ability to play well in that position but not consistently enough at this level, i thought he was poor on Saturday especially his distribution. He is a good squad player simply because he can cover so many positions but isnt good enough to hold any of them down week in week out

i've heard time and time again..."worse than dave regis" - wrong!

"waste of money" - paid for his fee and wages (so far) with the performance and goal against chelsea "

"adds nothing to the team" - he is strong enough and fast enough to create his own chances...but as we know he can't finish.

would you want odejayi to stay if he played like he did against chelsea every game? if so, then you are thinking like davey. we've got a player who has shown in glimpses that he can do it...but regularly doesn't match that level with his performances. odejayi won't be costing us much when compared to the likes of macken so there's no harm in keeping him here, coaching him further and hoping the one day we can really make him play consistently...and one day even score a goal.

He is far from the worst player we've ever had

But he might be the worst to have made 65+ appearances.

He is a clown, 2 performances out of 60 odd games. If Davey thinks he can still come good why not play him in the reserves week in week out until he starts showing any sort of form rather than giving him chance after chance in the first team.

He has become a joke figure at the club now, he gets laughed at when he makes a mistake pretty similar as to how Onibuje did when he was here.

I have to agree. I think he has got some good aspects.

    He is strong

    He is fast

    He has presence

But he doesn't have the biggy! He cannot stick the ball in the back of the net and that is what a striker must do. You either have it - or you dont! And OJ clearly shown, he doesn't have the scoring touch.

As for hassel, done better recently in midfield, but he will always be an accomplished right back or centre half. He is ok to fill colace boots when he is injured or suspended. He is good to warm the bench.
