Holding talks with the club in next few weeks. Has a lot of affection for the club, fans and will involve family when deciding. Let's hope it's a done deal and just a formality. Sent from my SM-G800F using Forum Runner
If he stays I REALLY hope we're promoted so we're in a position to pay him anywhere near what he's worth
Re: Great news , but what about Hecky too Why? He was contracted as a coach and now he's head coach. Maybe have a look in the summer at a pay rise but at the moment I'd be more worried about the playing staff.....
Why??? well think on this.. have you maybe considered that the Playing staff may also be waiting to see who is the Manager/coach whatever before they sign new contracts. They all seem to want to play for him and all seem to have a healthy respect too... his position could be key to the players staying or going.
Loved his answer to the question "Adam, after picking the ball up on the half way line, at what point did you think you might score one of the best goals Wembley has ever seen?" Answer: "straight away."
To be fair, I thought it was a pretty standard/evasive answer, didn't really suggest he was stopping. He said "ask Ben" and followed with "nah, we'll talk in the next few weeks" then changed the subject. Pretty much as I'd expect really

Adam Hammill tells me he will hold talks about his future in the 'next few days and weeks' #barnsleyfc User Actions Following Jonathan Buchan @jonathanbuchan Hammill told me 'it's a club I have alot of affection for' he says 'the fans will be a major decision for me' #barnsleyfc Hammill added 'I really hope to' when. Says its a 'major choice' and will involve family. Hear it on @footballheaven 6-7pm #barnsleyfc This was before the Town Hall Balcony interviews
Would love it to be true. But can't help feeling these are just buzz words at a time where he's not going to say anything different. Championship player next season, but not with us unfortunately.
Hammill should be playing in the championship next season no doubt about it. But whether we are there or not, he has an affection to the club, let's hope it's enough for him to stay with us for at least a little bit longer. I wouldn't hold any grudges if he did leave though obviously.
Not really done well at championship level apart from that time with us - he just seems to fit at Oakwell in my opinion
I've resigned myself to losing him unless we're promoted. I think it's easier that was than getting my hopes up & him then moving on.
I hope he stays, obviously. But I'm not sure we can pay him what others can, promoted or not. You have to factor in that he's on a free. So clubs can afford to over-pay him, so to speak. If we can offer him a two year deal on for instance £6,000 a week, that'd be the lowest deal on the table. I know how this works. Saw it with Jacob. Barnsley cannot afford their best players, not at that level. And Adam doesn't strike me as Mr Loyalty. He's nearing 30, he's a winger. Last chance at a big pay day. I see him moving on. And with my thanks and gratitude, promoted or not. Nobody can ever take that goal at Wembley away from me. Moments like that are priceless. But he will never replicate his BFC form anywhere else. Some players fit some clubs. But his family and financial security will be prioritised, not our football club.
