As a Yorkshire County shooter myself(2nd Team admittedly),I do not agree that target shooting pistols should be banned, since the 1997 ban gun crime has multiplied hugely in the UK,only decent people are penalised by a ban,I advocate that rules should be extremely strict, and were handguns allowed US style, our murder rate per capita, might even eclipse theirs, but very few ,if any, crimes to my knowledge have been committed by legal pistol holders.Obviously someone will mention Dunblane, please do not think I disregard this tragedy,my son was the same age as those poor bairns at the time, and I felt the hurt very deeply, but few people seem to know that Thomas Hamilton actually held his firearms illegally, had a history of run ins with sensible firearms officers, who were ignored by senior officers, who apparently wished to protect Hamilton, possibly for his involvement in supplying boys to a paedophile ring.(visit the website,or read the book,'Dunblane Unburied')
stream of consciousness Has there ever been a more elequent advocate for banning weapons that can kill?
There were indications that Hamilton wasn't right in the head from what I remember. If he never came near mental health services it wouldn't have been picked up, possibly not even then.
