After the narrow defeat on Saturday the general feeling on the forum was that the play off dream was slim to non existent. Why? I ask myself, even the happiest of happy clappers surely didn't expect us to go the rest of the season with out dropping a point. The way I see it is this 1 We still have all the teams above us to play, with the exception of Gillingham and Millwall(whom we did the double over lest you forget). This means that rather than hoping that results go our way we are master's of our own destiny. Although I haven't perused other teams fixture list I assume they too will have other top teams to play hence our rivals are hardly likely to go the rest of the season without dropping points. 2 All teams hit a run of bad form/results through out a season, I think we can safely say we experienced a fairly prolonged run of negative form/results. Likewise teams also have a run of good form/results. Given that our's may have just ended and that our form will return to win a few, draw and loose I feel this will leave us in mix at the end of the season. 3 Our squad is as good if not better than any other squad in the division. Confidence must be high and that is key to any sports person's performance. 4 If the blades fans can seriously think that the play offs are within reach why shouldn't us Super Reds fans believe we are only 3 points behind None of this is very scientific but Positive Vibes man are just as easy to have as negative vibes PS My daughter went to Gillingham on Saturday and observed The performance was possibly that which most of us were expecting against Bury, slightly below par and flat. She felt there wasn't much between the 2 teams. It was absolutely freezing and the Super Reds fan stood at the back with just a white tee shirt on (as well as trousers and shoes and socks I presume) needed a medal as big as a dust bin lid or should that be wheelie bin lid now Any way they are coming to give me my afternoon feed now. The sky is always blue on my planet. COME ON YOU REDS
Remaining games and optimistic points guess: Doncaster H 3 Bury A 3 Crewe A 3 Coventry H 1 Walsall A 1 Southend United H 3 Fleetwood Town A 1 S****horpe H 3 Port Vale A 1 Chesterfield FC H 1 Burton Albion A 0 Peterborough H 3 Sheff Utd A 1 Colchester H 3 Wigan A 0 42 + 27 = 69 Might just be enough for the last spot, but very little room for error.
To be fair, I had a funny feeling that there was something missing when I cut and pasted the fixtures from the official site. Anyway, when they get it scheduled, I give us another three points for that one. Playoffs here we come!
Yay! Tell me Ma, me Ma, To put the champagne on ice, We're going to Wembley twice, Tell me Ma, me Ma.
I would agree with that other than I was thinking 3 points at the Lane and a win over Oldham. Do you think I should ask Ticketmaster about ticketing arrangements or would that get too confusing?
A narrow defeat to Gillingham isn't the end of the world, but for any chance of making the playoffs we need to be looking at beating Bury, Doncaster and Crewe. I'll allow my mind to wander Wembleywards if that happens!
Doncaster H 3 Bury A 3 Crewe A 3 Coventry H 1 Walsall A 1 Southend United H 3 Fleetwood Town A 3 S****horpe H 3 Port Vale A 1 Chesterfield FC H 3 Burton Albion A 1 Peterborough H 3 Sheff Utd A 1 Colchester H 3 Wigan A 1 Oldham H 3 42 + 36 = 78 Pushing automatic promotion I reckon
That's the spirit think BIG. Obviously I was thinking negative vibes, who needs a second trip to Wembley. Automatic Yes I Like that Positivity. You would have achieved a perfect positivity rating if you had gone for 3 points against the Dem Dee Dahs.
