I'm hoping that we are indeed stronger together. Stronger than the departed individual parts. And that our success is based on a formula that allows players to leave, and be replaced in an almost seamless fashion. I must admit that I prefer replacements to be already regularly playing in the team they're leaving before they arrive, even if it be from leagues below. But when it comes to trying to look at things optimistically then: Winnall for me came good in fits and starts. His hold up play was patchy. Plug in Bradshaw. May be easier for him now Winnall's gone. Bree was more potential than product. Plug in one of a few full backs we have. No real harm done. Hourihane was the glue that held it together when we had the ball. Yet he did spend most of his time playing a simple ball - he didn't dribble, wasn't a killer through passer - his strength was in dead ball/shooting/crossing - so he is in that sense hard to replace. But plug in Mowatt or James or Moncur - it may take a little time and it may make us a bit different but possibly even better. Like Leicester, the sum can be greater than the parts. Like Leicester, it doesn't take much to see it disintegrate. But we have the best coaching staff we could hope for. No reason then to despair. The recent recruits seem to have a touch of class. We might have sold the family silver and struck gold.
Hopefully struck gold. 2 players with real ability and past pedigree. Dont think we couldve signed a better pair. Im optimistic. Better than last time. Lost our midfield then proceeded to sign Simeon Jackson, Emile Sinclair, Mellis etc. Dark days
If we get a quality left back, to push White who has been on the whole very good, and a quality striker to mix it up with Armstrong and Bradshaw then I am as confident as I was at the start of January that we will be pushing for the playoffs. This club just keeps on surprising us. And I love it. Want us to sign a few lads I've never heard of though now. Much more exciting being surprised by previously unknowns!
