Last weekend, in a small village in Belgium I stood in the mouth of the Tarn Whale. Even after all these years it really is amazing… even bigger than we remember it and on the same 100ft lorry which is in near perfect condition – brand new tyres even. The whale’s been is storage for 30 years but we’re now looking at getting the great whale back on the road for another European tour. First stop… TARN!!!!!

Approaching the BBC with the story after Christmas so I’ll need to be in contact with as many of the old the old crew as possible.

    Har har!

    What exactly is the story?

I've heard of a whale coming through Barnsley on a lorry but don't know why.

I'll let B&D and Johnny ****** know. Casper reads this board anyway.

    RE: nice one fella!

Long story... as wierd as the whale itself. It had been stored in Holland for 25 years but the world started changing around it! They redeveloped the area changed the roads and planted trees. The trees grew to the point where getting the whale out of its shed was just about impossible. But they just made it in time... and took it to Belgium.

Good work. We'll need everyone for the documentary. We should look into setting up a whale museum in tarn.

Best news I have heard in ages

Well done mate! got to admire your efforts over the years.

    And loved the book.

I remember reading the original postings, but did not contribute,
I just have the vaguest memories of the Whale, but so faint I am not sure they are real.

    Brilliant

Well done. I enjoyed the book, as it brought back many memories of that era. Like many others I couldn't recall the year it visited Barnsley - but I was there.

Any chance you could find out who Beorn really was?

If he ever existed that is!

It would be excellent if the 'beast' could return to Barnsley for a visit.

    Good Work

Well done Statis. Suffolk police could do with your detective skills.
Pity John Peel isn't around any more, he'd have loved it.
