Has to start as the focal point of the England attack this summer surely. Would be outrageous if an unfit, out of form Rooney got the nod ahead of him

We all know Woy hasnt got the danglers to not select Rooney, who some how still has this world class, best we have, tag. For me he would be very, very lucky to be in the squad.

But yes, Kane should be the number one striker this summer. It was Sturridge before his lay offs, hopefully he can continue scoring goals until the summer and force Roys hand.

Agree but I don't think any of our players are top quality & we'll get found out once we meet our first decent opponents in the last 8.

The standard of our league is dreadful, especially the defending. No surprise Kane, Vardy & a kid like Rashford are finding it easy to score

Not sure about that mate. Fantastic players as they are, I seriously can't imagine that Ronaldo or Messi would average near a goal a game in the Premier League. Nobody has ever got close to my knowledge.

Nah we've got some very good you g players. Stones, Shaw, Alli, Barkley and Kane are all more than capable of becoming World Class. We've got the best pool of strikers I can remember us ever having, we're always strong at the back, a top keeper. We just need to get the balance of the team right and get the right combinations in midfield and we've every chance of getting to the semi's at least.

It's a shame Danny Ings and Charlie Austin have faded into the background, and Jay Rodriguez got injured. Berahino is an utter pillock and he's probably missed out too. Serves him right.

    Central defence a concern.

    Stones
    Smalling
    Cahill
    Jagielka

And not much else after that.

Andy Cole got 34 in 40 back in the early to mid 90s for Newcastle.

Stones and Smalling should make a good pairing. Cahill and Eric Dier can play there, who'd be decent. And then there's some other youngsters, Galloway from everton, Chillwell young lad from Leicester . Joe Gomez when fit should be decent if he can live up to his potential.

Kane's too old now, we should be looking at youth, get some under 18 in from Arsenal reserves

True, but all the players mentioned overall hit around 1 in 1.7 over a longer time period. In Spain Ronaldo has averaged well over a goal a game over the course of more than 200 matches. No way he'd get close to that in England, in my very humble opinion of course.

They could all become it but none are anywhere near right now.

I agree that we could get to the semi's because outside of Germany & Spain & possibly France aided by home advantage it's a very weak tournament. If we avoid them 3 until that stage then there's a definite chance.

Italian's, Portugese, Russian's & Croatian's all have poorer teams than recent years. The Dutch aren't even there.

I don't think our forwards are all that. Think it's more to do with the standard of defending. The current crop of strikers are nowhere near as good as what we had in 96 & 98 but probably the best since 2000.

Agree. I was watching Sky earlier & felt sorry for Jamie Carragher. He'd have captained his country & been first name on the team sheet in this era.

10 years ago he was 5th choice behind Rio, Campbell, Terry & King!

And then behind him there was Woodgate who was playing that well Real Madrid bought him.

Jamie Carragher was the epitomy of the scouse hype. Every time they get a half decent player he is the best in the world. Thats all Carragher ever was, half decent.

The one truely world class player they always had, Stevie G, wasnt always universally loved by them, strange lot.

Im not sure, we had a very good bunch back then but id say for diversity, right now we have more selection.

And I'd say right now, Harry Kane is world class. Was on about it the other day, if you could pick any out and out centre forward who would you pick? Id only have Suarez definitely above Kane right now, Aguero who I think is the best in the world overall is only a maybe at the minute.

Pretty much my thoughts on it.

    Michael Owen
    Alan Shearer
    Teddy Sheringham
    Ian Wright
    Andy Cole
    Robbie Fowler
    Les Ferdinand
    Dion Dublin
    Chris Sutton
    Stan Collymore

Quite some stable we had back then. Sturridge and Kane are class acts but no better than any two of the above.

I disagree. Carragher was brilliant for them.

Time & time again he led a back 4 in big games in Europe & they beat quality sides over 2 legs like Barca, Real, Juve & AC Milan.

Could any of our current lot of defenders do what he did? No chance.

Suarez, Lewandowski, Aubemayang, Ibrahimovic, Ageuro, Higuain, Benzema, Morata in that order are all clearly better than him for me.
