Probably not. But I like the idea we're prepared to explore the non league market. Had we not done so, we wouldn't have George Williams or Marc Roberts who both made huge contributions to promotion.
Having signed Payne and Jackson suppose Harry was deemed lower potential. Still dissapointing if we signed him last year thinking he had potential to make step up and now we've let him go without a decent crack. Why not loan him out and see if he tears up the lower leagues? Ah well. Good luck to the lad
I think that's it; if w hadn't gone up, he would likely have stayed. Same with Jak McCourt. But no point keeping players in the Championship who aren't good enough
He was loaned out to Kidderminster and Boreham Wood last season. Obviously not quite up to standard we need. Good luck to him.
Do people not understand this is what we are doing. It's called 'recycling'. We're in a win win situation with these players. If they go on to do well for us like Roberts or Williams we reap the benefits short term on the field and in the long term financially. If they're not good enough they're 'recycled' back down the league for a profit. Such as Luke Berry or Harry White. As we've seen in such a short time it's much more effective than signing a Leroy Lita, Keith Treacy or Dale Jennings in hope that they've still got something left and then paying them to leave when they're not good enough. Didn't someone once say a 30% hit rate with transfers is good? Think we've done a lot better than that over the last 18 months or so Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think people do get it. Just wonder if we're too quick to put the recycling out. Luke Berry was one I really think we could have developed further. But, put faith in those who got us promoted against all odds. Sure there's plenty more ins and outs this summer.
I almost posted about Luke Berry the other day. I feel he could have been a big player for us. I was disappointed Johnson got rid.
They sold because he lacked pace and couldn't manipulate the ball quick enough. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
50% of one of the worst midfield partnerships we've had in recent times Thank goodness we now have moved on
Marc Roberts Alfie Mawson Kevin Long Ryan Williams Shaun Tuton Lloyd Isgrove Ashley Fletcher Aidy White Harry White Simeon Jackson Michael Smith Conor Wilkinson Ben Pearson Joe Rothwell Dan Crowley Ivan Toney Kadeem Harris Reece Wabara Adam Hammill Josh Brownhill Marley Watkins Nick Townsend Thats a heck of a lot of players this year again, but telling that a large number of players who came in second half of the season did really well, and many of those brought in at the start of the season (loans mainly) didnt do well.
Looking at those 22 players, I would gladly say 11 of those were successful. That 50% of new signings which I don't think is bad. Then you're looking at the likes of Rothwell, Smith, Tuton, Williams and Harry White who wasn't given a chance for one reason or another. The rest have been poor, apart from Toney who was average purely because his first spell at the club was fairly decent.
Eh? Berry spent most of his time playing wide right for us so how was he part of the worst partnership? That makes no sense
