The same goes for Potts and hedges. All of our attacking midfielders have outperformed Kent already.

Kent was fantastic but no end product, which is what everybody says about him.

Does anybody know how many assists he got with us last season?

Well, he could run with the ball, very quickly, past other people in different coloured shirts..

    But I enjoyed watching him.

Think it was 2 assists all season as far as I'm aware. He could take a man on but end product was were ryan struggled.

So was tackling and getting stuck in. His strengths were he could run but that was about it. We have far better wingers now

Agree 100% and also went on his runs at times lost the ball and left us totally exposed I'm sure he will be a top player in years to come but like you say we have far better wingers now.

    You're comparing chalk and cheese.

Harvey knows how to shoot and pass.

Kent knew how to beat a man and disrupt a defence.

If either of them knew fully how to help out the bloke behind them when they don't have the ball, they'd be fixtures in the team.

Kent knew how to beat a man that was about it but Barnes already has more assists than Kent got all last season. I'm comparing 2 wingers.

There are wide men and there are "wingers" in the old traditional sense.

Beckham was a wide man. Best was a winger.

But Kent and Barnes are both the same style of winger

Well I haven't seen Harvey trick anyone yet or look remotely like he can skin a full back like Kent tried to do and sometimes did.

Harvey seems to be more Beckhamesque to me.

Don’t agree based on what I’ve seen to date. Kent may not have had fantastic goal scoring and assist stats but his willingness to constantly run at opposition defenders put them on the back foot and created openings for other players.
Barnes doesn’t look like he has the same forceful running and dribbling ability but looks a cut above in terms of delivery and finishing.

Ryan Kent got better throughout the season. The player that went back was a top championship winger. In my opinion. If Barnes has the same development curve then he'll be one hell of a player end of season.

The one thing we are missing, that Kent gave us, is blistering pace on the counter. Kent gave us an outlet, and a threat every time we were defending set pieces. Isgrove may be that player when fully fit. But Kent definitely played his part a lot more than stats alone would suggest.

Kent's decision making, particularly in the middle third of the park, was atrocious. But he's young, and it's easier to learn that than it is to gain the ability to skin someone with pace. Kent may turn out to be a better player eventually but I think Barnes is much more of an asset to us currently.

Well it isn't, I agree, in terms of where they're supposed to play on the field.

But they are simply not the same player. if you have them both on the bench, you get different things when you're choosing who should come on.

They would be competing for the same position. Marc Roberts and Alfie maw son are both center backs but you get different things from them.

With respect, that is a poor argument.

It's like saying any substitution brings a different body onto the pitch. Well obviously it does.

Would you think that swopping Roberts for Mawson would be going through Hecky's mind as a second half progresses? Because you get different things from them?

They are not chalk and cheese, nor liable to be sufficiently a tactical switch that might affect the outcome of a game.

Said same other night. 2 goals in 10 games for a still developing team, is better than 3 in 47 surrounded by much better players if we are comparing like for like in the same position. Already caught up in assists too. Barnes last season surrounded by the class we lost would have looked even better. If he plays for England first team it wouldn't be a surprise, like it would be if Kent ever got close.

Got James up to speed enough that they could afford to sell Drinkwater for big money and now getting Barnes up to speed in men's football. Leicester will be looking to send us another for next season.
