    The last one was Hammill, the one before that Hignett I think. Has a manager of ours ever developed two players into salable assets so quickly allowing us to make a profit?

    Both sold in 1983

    However, Manchester City were in Division 2 like us. McCarthy played against Barnsley, a few weeks after being sold, during the Christmas period in a 1-1 draw at Oakwell. Mick Pickering made his second debut for us in that game, on loan from Sheffield Wednesday.

    Sorry - what I mean was they were signed to play in a Premiership team and are then sold to a Premiership team. Agree RE Ward
