Just wondering if the venue is any good, what the nearby parking is like, and also if it's easy to get to? Cheers!
I haven't been to a concert but I've been into watch the football, quite a tidy venue sloping standing area and afew seats up in the rafters, 2 bars in the main place and a smaller 'VIP' bar to the rear. Plenty of car parking within a couple of minutes walk, not sure if the parking is free on a evening though.
It's in the centre of Holmfirth so if you are in a car no problems getting there (through Penistone - or via Hepworth if you are me wanting a nostalgic view of Hepworth Pipe factory!!). There's a big car park on the right as you come out of Holmfirth towards Huddersfield then easy to walk (200 yds ?) to the Picturedrome. Don't be put off by the state of the Picturedrome building (outside and inside!) cos it's a great venue. Who are you going to see?
Thank you all very much. I'm thinking of getting tickets to go and see Bowling For Soup in October. Seen them plenty of times in Sheffield, but I've never been to Holmfirth. Although i could seriously do without the expense, BFS are an exception I'm willing to make. Or a late birthday present
Thought they had only done that one song Stacy's Mom Really good old fashioned intimate venue that you will enjoy. No matter where you watch the concert from you will have a very good view. As for parking after 6pm it's free parking so you can use any number of pay and display places such as the one where Papa Picalinos is or the one by Holmfirth Cricket Club. Both of which are only a couple of 100 yards from the venue.
Echo much of the above, it's a great venue, with a slope from the back of the venue down to the stage, meaning that you can always get a decent view if you don't want to be at the front (why you'd want to be near the back rather than bouncing around in the mosh pit I don't know). Parking in Holmfirth is not a problem, it's busy but there are plenty of places to park.
Fountains of Wayne sing Stacys mom. Bowling for soup are much better. As for parking, just park in the co op car park. I went to a concert there last year and parked in there no problem.
Silly me getting it mixed up with the other one hit wonder band FOW Can't believe Girl All The Bad Guys Want was from 2002!!! Only seems like yesterday. Looked at their Wikipedia page and very surprised they have done 16 albums.
If you can get there without driving I can recommend The Nook, a brew-pub just round the corner, and Brambles, a real-ale delight just opposite the venue. Next visit for me will be Half Man Half Biscuit in December.
