...between Barnsley FC and Radio Sheffield, for example is there really a relationship problem, how is it going to affect both parties and fans, what the long term result is likely to be and what, if anything is being done to resolve any issues?

Well, I'm not planning on doing that at the moment.
Do you know, and are you saying I should ask them?
What I am struggling with is that there seems to be an apparent rift between the club and possibly THE major local radio station, and yet nobody on here seems to know why, or care much about what direction it takes. Strange, when we seem to eventually get to the bottom of everything else fairly quickly. I always thought we got a reasonable coverage from the station and am not at all comfortable with this apparent "standoff".
I am actually concerned.

listened to Rowney this after he said football heaven was back with news and views on all local clubs. so I emailed him, no responce (dunno)
I'm intrigued why you recommend Red Rag to e-mail Radio Sheffield, Allen! And not 'e-mail BFC'. Are you implying this situation is all down to Radio Dee-Dah? I don't know what has gone on between the two organisations, but it all seems a bit childish to me. I can't believe that Radio Sheff didn't invite someone from Oakwell to represent the club on Football Heaven the other night, so it would appear that it's the club that's thrown its dummy out of the cot. Personally, I reckon there's an element of paranoia at the club with media relations, although you would know better than most if that assumption is pie in the sky. I believe that relations with the Chron were somewhat strained at one point last season, we have the club inserting legal edicts in response to fans' genuine written concerns, the club profess to take no notice of what is said on this forum but is quick enough to threaten action if they see something they don't like and now there is this spat with a local radio station. I'm sorry but the club MUST realise that it matters to fans how their club is portrayed in the local media, which is why many complain about the perceived bias towards the Sheffield clubs on Radio Sheffield and towards Leeds in the Yorkshire Post. The fact that 5 local teams featured in the radio programmes last Monday and we didn't, sticks out like a sore thumb. It's seems a bit of growing-up needs to be done at Oakwell (and possibly Radio Sheffield).
RE: I'm intrigued why you recommend Red Rag to e-mail Radio Sheffield, Allen! I simply guess that a response from Radio Sheffield is more likely than BFC, but what do I know?
Aye - given the club's penchant for 'losing' e-mails... I guess you've got a point. They really should sort out this issue with Radio Sheffield though, even if it means them climbing down or compromising. It's clear there's a rift - why else would the big Radio Sheffield banner on the banking between the Ponte and the West Stand be covered over for the Wigan game last week? Like I say, it all seems a bit childish to me.
Both the club and Radio Sheffield... Should go sit in the naughty corner and think about what they've done
