I think he's taken over as chairman of Barnsley Premier Leisure who run all the leisure facilities in Barnsley.

Thanks for that.......I think this shows that this guy is wanting to put something back

    Into Barnsley (Y)
It would be nice if others from't TARN that have been lucky enough to find fortune would do the same.

I agree, but as a Wombwell lad........................

I would like Pat to invest a little in improving the facilities at Mitchell and Darfield Football ground. No doubt Pat will have kicked a ball about there.

Decent changing rooms would be a start and a nice flood lit Astro Turf area would be nice.

Here in Wombwell we have no indoor Sports Centre or all weather pitches. We have to travel to train.

General sporting facilities in Wombwell are poor with little or no investement by the Council. The South of the borough is sadly neglected by Barnsley Met.

Same with Athersely rec. Busy place - especially the boxing events - but it is in desperate need of some cash spending on it. It's a big place Athersley and the surrounding area and it needs somewhere like that

Certainly not as big as Wombwell I agree.

But you do have the Sports Centre at Athersley North.

Wombwell has an ancient swimming pool, a 9 hole golf course, and a limestone grit athletic track. For a Town the size of Wombwell it's a disgraceful.

It stretches a fair distance if you include the south and the north - lump in new lodge and around there and Athersley rec has a pretty large catchment area
