Thought that was pretty obvious mate. The Don's quoted as saying the contract should be sorted in 5 minutes and then that it takes 2 weeks for the lawyers to sort the paperwork out. He's then quoted as saying that he doesn't know if it will be a rolling contract or a fixed term i.e. he's trying to pull the wool over our eyes. The deal he thought Flicker would jump at is probably not as mouthwatering as he thinks it is and Flicker is quite rightly considering the terms of the contract and the budget he will get. Just because the Don's made an offer does not mean that Flicker will be happy with it and sign it. It's that side of the negotiations that people are quite rightly worried about.
I think that's what everyone is suggesting - they're suggesting that Rowing et al are not convincing him to take it.
one thing's for certain. with a section of the fanbase, if flicker walks it will be all don rowing's fault. if he stays, it will just be don rowing's fault for not sorting it out quicker. all this will be based on no actual knowledge of any of the contract negotiations whatsoever.
"Talks with David Flitcroft and #BarnsleyFC continue. Flitcroft has asked for assurances from the board before he signs." - Matt Murray on twitter.
To be considered. 1)The way his bestest buddy was treated by the club...and the fans. 2)The way he was only third choice (possibly 4th or 5th for all we know) for the job back in January. 3)The abuse he received from many fans upon his appointment. So maybe both the board and fans are equally guilty. Just a thought.
i'm sure the board will have listened to every one of flicker's demands. and i have no idea what those demands are. whether the Club can meet those demands, remains to be seen. the squad selection comments do feel premature to me. even if flicker was still undecided, i think he would still have had those conversations. he's under contract until 31st may, so he has a job to do in that time. and the immediate job in hand was to sort out retained and release lists.
After the P'Boro away game I was still unsure but I don't think he got ANY abuse upon his appointment [as full time manager] after we beat Leeds 2-0!
I want him to stay, as he's done a remarkable job. But, life at BFC will go on if he didn't stay. Nobody is bigger than this club. Nobody.
That's what I thought, too, Zemaj, but wasn't too sure! I wanted Flicker after the Peterborough game, and have stated on here many times my thoughts on what a top bloke he is.
