One of those that can be controlled by a smartphone?

Are they any good? What options are there in the market currently? Any downsides etc.?

Thinking about getting one, but not finding it too easy to get information from the Internet or a means of comparison.

    Thanks in advance.

Nest is the market leader. Just been bought by Google for about £2bn. But it's only really prevalent in the US at the mo. I imagine all the footballers will be getting it first.

i doubt they are bothered about saving cash - they will have heating set at a constant 22/23 degrees day and night.

There's one being advertised on tv at the moment, think it's called Hive.

Salus do a remote controller. Salus are a Barnsley based company, Dodworth to be precise. We've installed Salus controls for a good 5 year and they are a good, well priced controller. I've not installed a new remote device yet but I've certainly looked at the literature and they look pretty snazzy.

I believe it's connected to your router then once the app as been downloaded go your smart phone you are able to access the remote part of it.

I believe the 'Hive' is a British Gas idea.

We've had one of these down in France for a few years now and it's been a real money-saver. Nothing as sophisticated as smartphone control, just a voice system and tone-dialling controlled thing.

Best bit about it was when a friend was berating me for not responding to the messages he'd left on my French answering machine and I was able to tell him that I didn't have a French answering machine and he'd been talking to my boiler.
