None in our town, but there is in surrounding areas. I have to laugh.......a few snow flakes around here and there is a mass panic. Cue the shops being emptied today.

Has plonked snow over Norway the past 2 days. Snow, ok then a light sprinkling of about 10 inches. Jesus, what is it that makes people panic?

    I can understand it.

If it was blizzard like conditions for 48 hours. It wouldn't stop us here but believe it or not it would be total caos in Oslo.

    RE: I can understand it.

Back in the 79 winter, when the North Sea froze off Aberdeen and frozen uncollected rubbish was piled everywhere, and it snowed every day from 27 December to the end of March, everybody just got on with it. No mobiles, 3 TV channels, no ABS or power steering. Nobody wagged work and if it started snowing at around 3pm people hardly gave it a second thought.

Now, a couple of flakes fall at 9.30am and there's a delegation in to the boss to negotiate a time to go home.

    i know

sincxe i moved up here people have been telling me about the "terrible winter" of 2004 when people were snowed in. i've only moved 90 miles north!!! nobody was snowed in, nobody crashed their car and nobody was unable to buy food. "we'll have to go home early if it snows" - why? -i just don't get it - when was the last time someone was unable to drive their car down a road?

    To fkin true !!

Should operate a 'don't work, don't get paid policy' but I'm sure that contravenes some 'human rights' legislation or opens you up to being sued for causing distress!![IMG]

local council reaction is what makes people panic. Particularly down south. The isle of wight is ridiculous. It literally comes to a standstill if you get 4" of snow.

Schools closed, buses not running because they forgot to grit the roads, people think they're going to starve or something..
