Sunderland have taped up the seats of fans who refuse to sit down during games at the stadium of light.

supporters who persistantly stand throughout the game have been suspended from using there season tickets for home games

The problem is especially at away games that people who want to stand whch is a reasonable request
Imo. Do so at the expense and disrespect of people that dont/cant stand and do i so. It may not be the people directly behind but those people have to stand and so on. I think the people who stand at football matches now are selfish aragant eand pompous.Althogh i do agree that standing areas should be brought back i think those that stand up now should be punished

I agree Marlon, they are oblivious to other fans. I went to watch Derby away last year and had to stand all match. I was in agony towards end. They would not stand in a Cinema. I agree there should be standing only areas at Back and sitting only at front. Another thing that pisses me off is when they all stand up when ball is on wing going to away goal. Nobody can see and if they all sat down then they can all see no problem.

I prefer standing, but if you're in seated areas you should respect the rights of those behind you to see the game,we have 3 blokes of middle age in front of us who insist on leaping to their feet at the slightest opportunity,it puts us in a difficult situation because the couple behind are quite elderly and don't jump up and down like a f*****g jack in a box.Over the years I've asked a few people to sit down(always politely)and it usually results in some kind of abuse whether it be threatening to fill me in or a string of snidey comments, neither of which I'm intimidated by,but still spoil the pleasure of the game.[/I]

I have no choice to stand if I can't get to the back of the stand.

I stand at all games and it don't effect anyone around me, i've never been asked to sit down once, by anyone other then a jobsworth steward at Hull, Lester, Bolton, Derby, & Plymouth, if its causing no one around you a problem then why should you have to sit down, i can't see the problem

It is a problem, if you're allocated a seat, you shouldn't be standing.
