53 points last year 53 points last year to be safe and over the last 9 games we got 9 points that would give us 52 points the season before we got 12 points from last 9 games which would = 55 points i know its different teams/games etc. but it gives you a good idea and with everyone at the bottom picking up points i think 55 minimum sheff u away will be a massive game with what as gone on this year and will make or break us and it will finish up 9 a side
RE: 53 points last year No-one has gone down from the Championship with 53 points since three points for a win was introduced. The most has been 52 a couple of times.
I've got us safe on 49 points .... A lot of the final games have bottom sides playing each other I have Charlton and Norwich down - with Southampton v Forest the decider for the final spot on the last day 48 points the 3rd relegation spot. I think if we can get to 51 points we will be definitely safe. Last season was a bit of a freak year - its rare for 52 points to go down
my slightly educated guess is.................... that 49 pts and GD will do this year-of course I could be completely wrong
Three more wins and we're safe. Forest, Swansea and then we need to give someone a nasty shock in an away game. Hopefully Swansea will have nothing to play for by the time they come to us - their play-off prospects are increasingly remote. There's always a chance away to Derby, Watford, Coventry or Plymouth. There's not much between any of them and us. Nine points good. Any less and we might have a problem!
if we snatch a win at Derby, then take Forest down at the Well, I reckon that might just do us. draws at Coventry,Watford and Plymouth...would do too.
just been calculating with my Saints supporting mate.... we reckon 51 maximum, as so many of the bottom sides have to play each other in the run-in. They have Forest on the last day, though he's convinced they'll be down already by then.
