    Nope ... it's still there ...

    ... and yet again - it's awful.
I'm ashamed that such garbage can be placed on our official website.
Maybe the match reports should be written by someone who knows a bit about football & can state something even slightly interesting ... rather than just having a blatant pop at the ref / opposition when we lose.

Makes us look like a bunch of amateurs ... which doesn't seem to be far from the truth.

    Mail expected.

So it is..ta..and here it is. Very Poor...and what's a Power Keg?

    BARNSLEY 0

    DONCASTER ROVERS 2 (Green 13, Mulligan 82)

A DISGRACEFUL display by controversial referee Uriah Rennie ensured the official was the centre of attention yet again and left the Reds down to nine men ending all hopes of a contest at Oakwell.

Barnsley boss Andy Ritchie rang the changes following the midweek defeat at Burnley with Nick Colgan, Paul Reid, Matt Carbon, Paul Hayes and Barry Conlon all returning to the starting eleven. Bobby Hassell made his first start of the season at right back as the Reds looked to extend their recent good league run.

Rovers included former Reds youngster Ricky Ravenhill and ex-Oakwell trialist Sean McDaid in their starting eleven with David Mulligan relegated to the subs bench.

Barnsley started brightly but it was Rovers who went closest to opening the scoring on three minutes as Jonathan Forte raced away from Neil Austin's miss-timed challenge to cross but Gareth Roberts could only fire wide of the target from the edge of the area.

The Reds' early dominance almost paid off on ten minutes as Conlon showed great strength in the area to hold of a challenge before finding Jacob Burns but the midfielder's curling shot dropped the wrong side of the post.

Rovers grabbed the opening goal totally against the run of play on 13 minutes as Jamie Coppinger managed to break free down the right before crossing well and Paul Green slotted the ball home from 18 yards.

A power keg start to the game finally flared up on 17 minutes after a tussle between Austin and Coppinger ended up with the Rovers player flying over the pitchside wall. Referee Uriah Rennie showed he had lost none of his desire to be the centre of attention and ruined a good contest by showing Austin a straight red card even though it was Coppinger's initial reaction that started the whole incident.

A foul on Conlon gave the Reds a great chance on 24 minutes but Hayes rushed his free kick and powered the ball high into the North Stand.

Barnsley struggled to get a flowing passing game going and found themselves dragged down to Rovers level of niggling fouls, feet left in from behind and long balls forward although Antony Kay almost got thing right on 29 minutes when he let loose from 30 yards but his volley flew high into the stand.

Rovers, redundant as an attacking force throughout the first half, almost got a second and probably inevitably it came from a set piece as Forte managed to get his head onto Coppinger's corner but Hassell was in the right place to clear from near the goal line.

Martin Devaney almost created a half chance on 37 minutes as he tricked his way through the Rovers back line but over ran the ball after breaking into the area.

Barnsley were almost rightly level on 39 minutes as Burns' free kick from the right was met powerfully and purposefully by Carbon in the air but Jan Budtz managed to tip the ball over the top.

More great play by Devaney and Hayes set Chris Shuker away on 42 minutes and this time the winger picked out a great cross for Conlon but Budtz somehow managed to claw the striker's header away for a corner. From Burns' inswinging kick skipper Reid was inches away from putting the ball in the back of the net with a great glancing header that flew just wide.

At the other end Rovers finally threatened through open play as both Forte and Green brought comfortable saves from Colgan with deflected efforts. Roberts could have doubled the lead on 44 minutes as he volleyed goalward after the Reds had struggled to clear a cross from the right but again Colgan was well-placed to make the save.

The visitors again went close in stoppage time after more dumbfounding refereeing by Rennie as this time Green found a yard of space on the edge of the area but hammered the ball well over the top.

Again the Reds came out of the blocks flying at the start of the second half and were finally aided by Rennie who eventually spotted one of many elbows into the back of Conlon. Burns' 47 minutes free kick caused all sorts of problems but the Rovers back line managed to clear as Shuker, Hayes and Conlon lurked.

Rovers again could have doubled their lead a minute later as Gareth Roberts' knock down sent Green in on goal but the midfielder fired horribly wide with just Colgan to beat. A mistake by Ravenhill then gifted Conlon a shooting chance on 49 minutes and the striker curled his effort goalward but his strike was straight at Budtz.

Colgan showed his international class on 52 minutes as he raced to the edge of his box before calmly taking the ball out of the area without handling under pressure and clearing his lines.

A free kick by Burns caused more problems for a poor Rovers defence on 54 minutes and Ravenhill was very, very lucky to escape punishment after the ball struck his outstretched arm in the area. Devaney then swung the ball back into the danger area but Kay could not get his header on target under pressure from the flapping Budtz.

Rovers again threatened from a set piece on 59 minutes after Kay had harshly been adjudged to have tripped Coppinger. The winger got up and sent a deep free kick to the back post where McIndoe managed to get his foot to the ball but his rising volley clipped away off the top of the bar.

McIndoe then showed the less savoury side to his game three minutes later as he threw himself over Hassell's leg in a bid to cheat his way to a free kick. Rennie gave nothing but refused to show the diving Rovers' winger a yellow card for his theatrics.

As the Reds pressed, Rovers were always likely to find space at the other end and Forte did just that when he beat Shuker down the right on 66 minutes before driving at goal but his well-struck shot flew yards wide.

Coppinger then almost got in on goal two minutes later as he took advantage of two fortunate deflections to find space by Kay was in the right place to make a simple block. Forte again got through on 71 minutes but this time ignored the shouts of two unmarked Rovers attackers in space and fired woefully wide of Colgan's goal.

Rennie again ensured the second half was all about him on 73 minutes as he dismissed Kay for a late challenge on Coppinger. Kay's foul was late but once again the official opted for a red card instead of using whatever common sense he had and merely cautioning the Reds defender.

Former Red Mulligan dragged a shot wide on 76 minutes as Rovers looked to make the space and extra men tell although it was Conlon who went closest to a goal on 80 minutes with a glancing header under pressure from a great Burns corner.

Rovers went straight down the other end and should really have scored as Phil McGuire met Coppinger's cross just eight yards out but put his header into the turf and over the bar.

The second goal came just a minute later as the ball fell to Mulligan on the edge of the area and the former Oakwell regular hammered it home past Colgan to finally make the game safe for Rovers.

BARNSLEY: Colgan, Hassell, Reid, Carbon, Burns, Hayes (Nardiello 65), Conlon, Austin (Sent Off 17), Kay (Sent Off 73), Shuker, Devaney (Richards 76).

    Subs: Flinders, Wroe, Williams.

DONCASTER ROVERS: Budtz, S. Roberts, McGuire, Albrighton, N. Roberts, McDaid, Ravenhill, Green (Mulligan 55), McIndoe, Forte (Heffernan 82), Coppinger.

    Subs: Fortune-West, Fenton, Richardson

    Might need Graham Been again.

    Had an excellent day.
And the package was real value for money.
Shame about the result though ... but the majority of the fans in our box were Rovers supporters, who were less than pleased with the ref.
I'll post a bit more about it later spadger.

Did this person go to the same match as me [IMG]? Thought we played well and the ref was very poor, but Kay's was a straight red and he let the rest of the side down as we looked as we might have got a point at that stage.</p>

To say that is on the official site in my opinion is an absolute disgrace. It reads like the rantings of a spoilt brat. It does NOBODY connected with BFC be they players, staff or supporters any credit at all. Whoever wrote that should hang their head in shame in my opinion. For God's sake take it down. Pitiful.

When summats wrong on here, correction issued within minutes...

That article should go quickly. I hope Rovers report us.

Rennie was bad. But posting a match report like that could be construed as bringing the game into disrepute.

Unless there is a disclaimer saying that the content of articles written by individual contributors express their opinion and not that of the football club, I can't see how we can leave it up.

Perhaps the author wants a special letter?

    RE: Yes

We were certainly more than a match for them.

I've just about calmed down from Saturday.

The comments about their niggly fouls, them leaving the foot in, that Kays was just a yellow card offence, that Coppinger should have been sent off, that Conlon kept getting elbowed, that the ref didn't issue a yellow card are all correct.

The report puts the deafeat squarely at the hands of the ref

I thought the ref had a poor game. But to totally blame him covers up the failings in our performance. I think we can play a lot better than we did on Saturday. We weren't out of the blocks quick enough and to state that Donny weren't in the game for the first 20 minutes is quite simply rubbish. They scored a goal and missed another very similar chance. We looked totally disorganised in our defending. I can't praise the players enough for the hard work they put in after we'd gone down to ten men and for the rest of the half we more than matched them. But the one easy chance we created our centre forward wasted by heading straight to their goalie. That's nowt to do with the ref; that was a failing on our part. We conceded a soft goal when we had 11 players, missed one guilt edged chance later in the half and didn't create enough other chances to claim any sort of domination in the game. The match report makes us sound like world-beaters who were simply done by a 'disgraceful' ref. That was not the case.

Not that I believe it brings the game in to disrepute as has been alleged. It’s the opinion of one bloke and we all see the game differently. I just don't think it's very balanced, which I reckon should be a requirement for the official site. Save the superlatives for wins like Gillingham and Preston away when we scored some absolutely stunning goals. Then at least we can tell the difference between good and fairly average or poor performances. Tell the Donny game for what it was. The lads worked very hard in trying circumstances, but were a little bit short of quality on the day and although the sendings off could be considered harsh our players have to be more controlled.

Having read that report and the Yorkshire Post report I know which is closest to how I saw the game and it wasn't from a right-wing Leeds based rag

We are a PRO football club ...

... that match report reads like the childish rantings of a complete lunatickle.
This match report is far better:

    (1) Gave away sloppy goal
    (2) Ref had a mare ... for both teams
    (3) Missed our chances
    (4) Got punished for lack of clinical finishing / discipline
    (5) At least we battled - unlike last season

    You see.
    Easy.
