RE: yes cheers. Any idea why as you look at it (upper tier) there is a tiny section of white seats at each side? probably about 10 seats in total. Am I right in thinking that the seats are mainly wooden in the upper tier still?
RE: yes Those seats were considered a luxury when i was a snip of a lad. Way back, possibly the 70's and before (?), they used to give you a cushion - it may have been the central section?
RE: you had to pay 10 p extra for a cushion Spot on Spartucus old chap! I was hit very hard by one of those cushions following the 3-4 Exeter game and i was stood near the away dugout
RE: you had to pay 10 p extra for a cushion I used tobe up there as a nipper with the old man (late 70's early 80's)on front rowabout 10 seats from Directors box.
True at that time those wooden seats were thought of as a luxury but were cold and uncomfotable, not that I sat on them that much.

RE: you had to pay 10 p extra for a cushion Having sat in both East Stand Upper and West Upper I consider wooden seats far warmer than the plastic variety. If my memory is not playing tricjs I think the wings (Blocks A & E) had benches originally.
Spot on ,mate I had a season ticket from 1969/70 to 1980/81 in the Pontefract Road End Wing Stand with my late father and they were always long benches ( ala present day Chesterfield ) . However , he would never get a cushion for us as he thought they were for wimps !!!
My first season ticket - 1966/67 season - was £3 for the season!! I was 14 at the time. Centre stand, right next to the directors' box. I remember going to the Secretary's office to make my "luxury" purchase and the man took me upstairs to choose my own seat. How's that for personal service? Shame it was such a crap season though - this was the one that nearly killed off the club. The crisis was even deeper than the recent one we have been through. They just managed to pull through though courtesy of Messrs Thomas and Evans .
