No surprise there, typical FAW Only once have they EVER rescinded a card. Got to keep up their record and prove to the other members of Uefa/FIFA that they are an independant organisation capeable of their own decisions. Pr!cks the lot of them. Elderly pr!cks at that! Of course, it doesn't matter with regards to our game - he was always going to be available for that. He'll just be a little fresher now!
I agree, he did ... but it was unintentional. KFH kept his eye on the ball at all times and was probably unaware of where the keeper was. Even their manager, Geraint Williams, said that he was perfectly entitled to go for it and that there was nothing malicious in it. He said that these things happen in football and was prepared to back JFH at appeal. The annoying thing is, one of their players did exactly the same thing in the 1st half and the ref didn't even book him. If you can't raise your foot in the box without it being dangerous, wave goodbye to the overhead kick and eventually the volley.
But didn't taylor get a red card for only misjudging an attempt to get the ball by a matter of seconds and inches? Both tackles had feet off the ground with studs showing and both caught the player instead of the ball so surely both are reds?
The two tackles were entirely different. Yes, when you describe it they appear to be the same, but in reality they're poles apart. Taylors tackle, a downwards stretching lunge over the ball into an oncoming player, will always result in serious damage if a connection is made with the opponent. And he knew that the opponent was there. Admittedly Hasselbainks' foot was high but it was on a through-ball onto which he turned to try to hit it goalwards - as strikers do. The keeper, in trying to save it, was hit. The chances of being seriously hurt are infinately smaller imo. Yes, it'll smart a bit but it's a mans game after all. As I said, doesn't really affect us, JFH will be able to put his feet up for 3 games that's all.
"but it was on a through-ball onto which he turned to try to hit it goalwards - as strikers do. " You obviously have not been watching our strikers then mate. Thats the last thing they do, actually hitting it at all is a great achievement up here.
Particularly when Aliadiere's was nonsense, whereas Hasselbaink's was dangerous. Although I agree that Hasselbaink had his eye on the ball, would he generally choose to try to control the ball so high off the ground? Of course he wouldn't, but he knew the keeper was coming for it, hence the boot being high and hence the red card being upheld. Let's hope for a downpour in Wales and a postponement of one of the matches!
