So with no Colace, Togwell on his way out, and no chance of Johnson. The opinion seems to be a choice between Hassell or JCR.

As much as I don't like Hassell in that position, it would be madness to start with JCR in the middle. Devaney/Howard/JCR/Hamour. Who is going to do the dirty work. Who is going to get their foot in. I like JCR, and he will run his arse off for the team. But he would end up getting sent off if he is expected to do the tackling cos he likes to dive in too much.

Having said that, pre-season doesn't mean anything. Its a blank slate, lets see how they perform. This is where its gets interesting, lets hope they know what they are doing. Cos the first month looks a nightmare start to me.

Colace is not fit. He's hardly played any football pre-season.

If JCR plays in the middle, i'd expect Devaney to start and for me Disco is better as a 20 minute man at the end. He showed that against Bristol City near the beginning of last season, think he came on with 10 minutes left and run rings round Michael McIndoe

Appalling situation to be in at this stage.

Not good enough on the manager's part.

Its one thing bringing colace in, then him getting injured. But that happened weeks ago. We have two natural players for that position. Johnson looks like never playing for us again. So I was at least hoping togwell would get a look in, especially when he came on against wigan. From player of the season in the championship to yeovil in one year. And he's still better than hassell in that position.

If we play a central midfield pairing of JCR and Howard we'll get ******* murdered. Just that.

Agreed. Colace MIGHT make the bench though.

Davey's known since last year that he didn't want Togwell or Johnson near the 1st XI. He's also known DESilva's return date. Davey's employer has spoken of the fact that playing a full back in central midfield is not the way forward. And he has brought in an untried South American. It beggars belief.

In my opinion his apparent stubborness will cost him his job.

Howard scores a few, JCR runs about a lot and Hassell is a decent full back.

Surely thats a playoff challenging central midfield.

I don't agree, if we starting season with everyone fit away from home we would have Muller in goals three at back Foster Moore Souza wing backs JCR and
Haimour two holding players Colace and De Silva, Howard just behind Macken and Hume. With more signings through season why all the panic.

I think it's embarrasing when were talking about injured and unfit players before we've even kicked a ball, there must me something up with there fitness training.

Since when has JCR been a wing back?

    He isn't a defender

Probably one of the best wingers Ive seen at tracking back and helping out the defence.

    About the same

Neither pairing has the physical presence to compete in the championship.

All fine and dandy when there is somebody behind him

But when you are the only line of defence down the side then you simply have to be defensively minded, not just able to to track back and put them under pressure.

Why would he do it, just to be stubborn. He must think that he knows summat we don't.

He must be seeing something in training that tell's him hassell can do that job to a good enough level. Cos I'm not seeing it on matchday. And it was obvious that da silva wasn't going to be back and match fit by now.

    basically no

We don't have the players to play 3-5-2. Square peg, round hole.
