Barnsley have revealed they are close to reaching a deal with defender Bobby Hassell - who will take the weekend to consider their offer. The Reds are hopeful that Hassell - who was runner-up in last year's Player of the Season poll - will sign a new contract next week. Club spokesman Don Rowing, told The Barnsley Star: 'We met Bobby yesterday and while details must remain private, he has gone away to think over our offer and I feel it looks encouraging,' 'We expect to hear from Bobby early next week.' He also revealed that goalkeeper Nick Colgan, who is out of contract this summer, has been in contact with the club.
