    why would someone build a website to tell the world how wonderful they are?

    it's not normal, and as such, intruiging to people with an an interest in the quirks of human nature.

    I actually agree with him. Can't see what you find either unusual or amusing about the couple's web-piece. It's exactly the same as anyone who is on facespace or mybook or any of those social networking sites. If you think it is weird that people post such stuff on the internet then I think you are a bit behind the times.

    There are 2 improtant things to consider
    1. They are americans - they tend to think that sort of thing is normal
    2 and more importantly - it appears to be linked to an adoption site - they are pitching as a perfect family to adopt a child - they are bound to paint a picture of the Perfect American family

    Personally I cant believe its anything like that perfect but I cant bring myself to knock a family prepared to take on and bring up a child which for some reason the orignal mother cant or wont do whilst still involving them in the upbringing

    Another possible is...

    3) When people start learning to create a website, they'll often use their family as a quick subject matter "The Joneses are online!". Textbooks will often suggest this because everyone has pictures to hand. The results are sickly but there you go. They can then go on to create a useful website.
