Had a look at our grounds details, looks like they have got our sponsors details wrong. Check it out !
Plus several years later two Peter Springett penalty saves at Millmoor. The crowd control at that game was horrendous. Literally one turnstile open an loads of crowding. South Yorkshire Police = ****ing ****s.
I wish i could take my lad to grounds like these nowadays, times move on my lad is only 15 and been to at least 30/40 grounds but nowt quite like these
Blimey, the old Bristol Rovers ground Eastville Stadium. It's the only ground I've been to (went in the early 1970's) that had flower beds growing behind the goals. As there was a greyhound track round the pitch as well, the players seemed a mile away from the terracing.
Wigan weren't so posh as to have flower beds, but they had plenty of grass and weeds. <img src="http://www.footballgroundguide.com/old-grounds-and-stands/springfield-park-wigan-athletic/grassy-bank-springfield-park-wigan.jpg"> An early attempt at safe standing that they got completely wrong.
Ah, I remember it well. Both Halifax & Wimbledon had grass banking instead of terracing too, back in the day.
Only went to the old Wigan once, a friendly in the mid 90's when people around there only thought they had a rugby team (when we were asking for directions). I bet Coventry fans wished they were back at that stadium, always thought it was a decent ground.
Didn't look like that when we went, it had rained before hand and the bank was a muddy mess that they had tried to make better by throwing loads of hay on it, bad idea, made it worse.
Went to Bradford Park Avenue back in the 60s. No photos of their ground though. Does anybody else remember!
