https://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-LINK-M7...F8&qid=1468257483&sr=8-2&keywords=mobile+wifi since we took early retirement we are getting away a lot. Some of the cottages are very remote and do not have internet or broadband. I was recently told of these things and wonder just how good they are... any advice will be welcome. I do have a 3 Dongle but we were away last week and that did not wanna know... but my phone did show a 4g connection. Also if they are good which operators SIM card would be the best recommendation. TIA BAZ
We use one of these at the cricket club http://www.solwise.co.uk/4g-routers-rut950.html It's obviously a lot more expensive than the one you are thinking of, but it has space for 2 SIMs, so you can choose 2 different networks, and it also automatically switches between 3G and 4G depending on what signal is available. If you're in a weak signal area you can plug in an external antenna to boost the signal more http://www.solwise.co.uk/4g-antenna-omni-xpol-a0001.html. We use a Pay As You Go SIM from 3 as we don't want to pay monthly, since we don't use it in the winter. Some examples here http://store.three.co.uk/view/searc...rTariff=50to99.99&payGPriceForTariff=0to49.99. We're moving early next year to a new house in Dodworth, and we're not having a landline, so we'll assess the situation at the time and use something similar for our home internet connection.
I have one similar which is for mobile internet when abroad it's brilliant but will soon use up data if downloading but for general browsing well worth the money.
Many thanks for that I will take a good look at them all before buying. We only really need it for browsing checking E-mails getting weather, and local info for attractions to visit etc.. oh and OFC BBS and BFC main site... lol again thanks for all that info, much appreciated.
They are good. Used variations of them for years. My business partner uses an 4g EE one at home for his primary Internet and thinks it's great. If you end up doing lots of streaming it can get expensive although there are some good deals to be had for data bundles. Obviously, some remote areas also often don't have good mobile coverage.
I'm using one rite now in the caravan on 7 lakes. Signal is good but not as quick and responsive as my 4g on iPhone. Like others said if your streaming it soon eats up data. I paid an extra £5 a month on my mobile phone tariff to get 10gig data and I find that is better faster and cheaper. My daughter can hook up to my personal hotspot with her iPad and watch YouTube etc which also runs data down quick but for browsing I'd recommend upping your mobile data if possible. #COYR
