Have I been a bit of a clown ?

I ordered BT Broadband, and the router thing and accompanying disk and books arrived a few days ago. We currently have a fairly old laptop that we use from home and are taking delivery of a brand spanker in Jan.

The current laptop doesn't have a cd rom drive. Am I unable to set up the broadband until we get the new one that does, and therefore am I paying for something I can't use until then ?
I know I should probably have checked what I'd need before ordering but I'm a bit daft

I think if you ring them , they'll be able to talk you through installation rather than following the CD that you can't play.

You should be fine- can you get online currently?

If you're using a dial up connection, whatever is on the disc will also be available for download online . It might take a while mind you.

    Just google it.

    No reason why it wouldn't

You just need to download the relevant software, configure it and off you go.

Check out the instructions online and see what they say. Or ring their support team in Bangalore.

    Cheers, I thought of that

But wasn't sure if it would be worth it if I'm getting a new PC in 3 months.
Can I download the BB stuff onto the old laptop and use it as per normal ?

Well, like anything else, the manufacturer or service provider of anything like that always put the relevant info online for download- you just have to find it and follow the instructions that should be online too.

Its usually very straight forward. If you tell me what you're installing I will have a look for you.
