........Headlines splashed all over BBC website... "George Osborne says £1,7bn bill to EU halved...... because the UK rebate will be applied to it". Huh???!!! Err... we pay £850m now and £850m next year. We should get the rebate anyway. Now by my reckoning 850m+850m=1.7bn. Can someone explain leaving the words Osborne, idiot, fools taking us for, incompetent or spin? Lost for words !!
I've tried but spellchecker keeps insisting on using Osbournefool all the time no matter how much I try to split em
According to the BBC we are only paying a total of £850 million spread over 2 payments next year - not 2 payments of £850 each It needs a greater brain than mine to figure out really what we have got though - according to some commentators we were going to get a rebate of £850 million next year so this year we pay 1.7Billion next year we get 850million of it back - net contribution 850 million so its still the same deal just we got ourselves some interest free credit. But I suspect is actually more complicated than that I have no idea whether we are really up on the deal or even whether the 1.7Million was ever seriously expected to be paid and was deliberately leaked so we could slash the bill to the 850million they really wanted anyway
