Some people on here do try to represent some intelligent thinking and state their points in a very lucid way. For my part I think that we were lucky in the end to come away with a point yesterday. Our passing was poor and our strikers were working on their own for long spells. We were too negative particularly in the 2nd half I am getting to the stage where I am increasingly concerned about the manager's tactics, formation and substitutions (which have been talked about quite a lot already) Purely to comment on players though I thought that given the tactics the following applied: Butland - overall very good and solid throughout in spite of a bit of nervousness in first half Wiseman - did well and his pace helped. Did not let the team down and should get some praise from some posters on here Mvoto - Did well overall and is being targetted as a weak link unfairly by some. His physical presence was valuable yesterday and he was in the main very solid. I think he is already improving and getting up to championship speed. He made a couple of mistakes I admit and was slow out for the goal but my view of him is he is improving as I've said and I think his plusses outweigh his weaknesses Crainie - Best player for me. Aware and solid nearly all the time Kennedy - Weak link in defence. Too slow, not strong enough and indecisive. Perkins - Poor. Again not decisive enough at times. Too negative a lot of the time. I think he had one of his better games (for him) yesterday but he is too slow and unimaginative. He is simply a better version of Dawson and that doesnt say much. His running around does make him a good player Mellis - Shockingly poor attitude. If he is played wide then he still has to TRY and put a shift in Fox Unspectacular but looked ok. Didnt let the team down McCourt - Inspiring at times but I personally still think he's not 100% and he faded second half O Grady - Not as good as usual but had little service from a poor midfield Pederson - Great awareness for goal and got in some good positions without being serviced form midfield enough Jennings - Too fat Etuhu - No real impact in time given Scotland - Tried when he came on but no real impact in time given Overall for me the weak players yesterday tended to be the midfield ones who were not creative enough over the 90 minutes and who failed to protect the defence adequately when needed. Flitcroft has to take responsibility for creating a team that produces chances regularly and which doesnt defend too deep and folds when under pressure. We ended up scraping the draw in a game against a poor team which I thought we could have won more comfortably
I'd give these player ratings: Butland - His best performance so far. Assured at all times. Great in the air. Fantastic couple of saves, one especially good which was deflected last minute. 9/10 Wiseman - Another solid defensive display. Was as culpable as his teammates for their equaliser, though. Got forward and linked well with Paddy. 8/10 Cranie - I really rate him. Usually spot on for 95% of the game, then switches off or tries doing the jobs of others. 7/10 M'Voto - On another day, he concedes two penalties. Awful positional sense. But he's got his good points. I can see him improving. Hopefully. 6/10 Kennedy - Best display for a while. But still not good enough either defensively, or going forwards. I preferred him in a back three. Another who fades/switches off late on. 6/10 Mellis - We always tick over a lot better with him in the side, but he was off-colour yesterday. Wasted out wide at times. Want him in the middle or not at all. 6/10 Fox - Starting to see signs of a decent player in him. But he's yet to really influence a game. Another who fades/switches off later in games. 7/10 Perkins - Thought he was better this weekend than last. Has his limitations, but better than some suggest. Needs to stop the dallying, though. 7/10 Paddy - Didn't get the ball enough after a bright start. Which I don't blame him for as we concentrate far too much on using our left, bizarrely. Mesmerising at times. 8/10 COG - His worst display for a while. Not much stuck. But it wasn't for lack of effort. Wish he'd stay central. If that's a tactical decision, it rarely works. 6/10 Pedersen - Best of our outfield players. He's basically a classier, more accomplished version of Daggers. If only he wasn't starved of service. Love watching him. 9/10 Jennings - Looks unfit. Looks low in confidence. Looks poor. I'm blaming the manager for picking him yesterday. Better options available. Needs games, though. So it's a tricky one I suppose. Because there will/must be a player in there. A loan could be the best option? RNL a lot better option and no longer making the bench. What the ****? 4/10. Etuhu - Anonymous once on. Thought he'd impose himself at least. Strange how he's gone from being a nailed-on starter, to someone on the periphery again. 5/10 Scotland - Didn't get long enough to affect the game or to earn a rating. Flitcroft - Made good decisions pre-match. Poor ones during the match. And silly comments post-match. I'm not seeing what he's seeing, put it that way. 4/10
Do you think playing behind Mellis may be part of the problem with TK? As stated in other posts I thought he had a good game yesterday.
He set up our goal by passing to Pederson when it came off the post, so "unspectacular" is unfair when he gave us our only assist.
He hasn't always played behind Mellis, and still looked poor. I can't blame Mellis for TK switching off. I just don't see him as a left back. Much prefer him in a back three. I thought Golbourne was overrated, but he was a lot better than TK. I even preferred McEveley in terms of going forward, and that's saying a lot. Just my opinion, mind.
I don't disagree with you, I just feel that he is playing in the worst position in the team so even when he does have a good game he still looks like he's made mistakes.
