The most succesful period of Patricks tenure so far was when Gordon Shepherd was his right hand man at the club, Gordon I think was a reds supporter before he joined the board meaning he understood the club its supporters and the town. It was the same before administration, John Dennis and Michael Spinks weren't perfect but they understood the club and the people of Barnsley and were and still are fans. Does anybody think once their employment with the club has finished Ben Manford and Maurice Watkins will attend matches at Oakwell on a regular basis does Don Rowing attend? The club has moved away from its fan base and I think thats why its in as much trouble has it is. Patrick could do a lot worse than approach John Dennis and Michael Spinks and ask them for help they know what made Barnsley FC and its fan base tick, Mansford and Watkins clearly don't.
I think Patrick's boards have been THE major problem however I think Gordon Shepherds era was a part of that
