1) We approached Rotherham on the 2nd September to ask to speak to their manager and permission was given. Prior to that, everything had been speculation in the press and on messageboards. 2) We spoke to Robins on that evening. 3) Thursday 3rd, Rotherham told him to go on gardening leave until it was sorted. 4) Further talks were held with our exec (Friday ?) and it must have been agreed bar PC stamping the deal. 5) Over the weekend Robins spoke to PC and the deal was done. 6) Presumably we have contacted Rotherham regarding compensation for the backroom staff, unless they all resigned. 7) We are announcing him today. All in all its taken 5 days to ask to see him, talk to him, agree a deal with him, and negotiate about his backroom staff with Rotherham. So what is the problem? Their own chairman has said we acted properly by going through him first. Its not nice for the Rotherham fans, but that is football. If he is successful with us, expect to see a Premiership club knocking on our door to talk to him.
Rotherham fan at work said we have said that we are yet to agree compensation. Cart before the horse at 2.15?
No we haven't I cannot believe that Mark Robins was sitting there at Rotherham not thinking about the position at Barnsley before he was approached. It's not like we put the idea in his head. I hope he's seen it coming for months and if he gets the job he can hit the ground running.
