...I am more than pleased with the position we are in this morning, 8th place & 6pts and even more importantly having scored 6 goals!
In my opinion we are 2pts better off than i had dared to hope for and to make things even more sweeter we see the fowls struggling again. However it is early days but I think the positives from this week are:-

1..the boys confidence will have rocketed after coming from behind to win TWICE,both away,in the space of 5 days.If nothing else they will be getting in to the mentality of not knowing when they are beaten.

2..our good start may encourage any potential new signings that we are capable of holding our own and do have ambitions to progress.

3..Fans are feeling much more confident (although still cautious) and I hope this is reflected on Saturday in the numbers that attend Oakwell and how voiciferous we are. It should be a good game and I dont think they will be relishing coming here.

In summary I know it is early days and the teams we have played are not expected to set the league on fire but we can only beat what is put in front of us and if some of the posts that were put on here prior to the start of the season were to be believed we would be alongside the likes of Wednesday, Hull and Sunderland now!

Well done Andy Ritchie, Well done boys keep it up.

    come on you reds

    Yes but....

the 2 sides we have beaten are bottom of the league with no points.

I would have been happy with 4 points at this stage I must admit. And am delighted with the team spirit and performance. after 2 and a half seasons of never coming back from behind to win to do it twice in 2 matches is great.

As the side we lost to are top and unbeaten its too early to really say where we can finish.

I think the biggest area of concern for me at the moment is the defence though - (which surprised me) I can see us getting beat by 4 goals if we come up against a striker on form. Midfield looks well able to hold its own in this league - and we are creating plenty of chances and scoring goals (conversion ratio could be better but if we can keep sticking a couple away per game we will live with that)

Have to agree with that Farnham

Southampton will be a real test for us next Saturday.
They have signed some excellent players and have a very canny Manager in George Burley.
It might be an idea for Holden and Ritchie to photostat the Interview that Burley gave pre-season (was it for 442 magazine?) where he tipped us to finish bottom and be relegated.
Comments like that will only serve to fire the lads up.
It will be tough next Saturday and as you say, there are far better forwards out there than what we have encountered so far.
They can do it, but our defence, although doing great so far, will be sorely tested in the future and another commanding centre back with experience is what is needed.

I am certainly not. I see every game as an adventure and we need every point we can get. I would have been happy with one yesterday but three are just fine!

Well I will be happy with a draw next saturday

Southampton will be up there challenging for Automatic promotion so any points we get against teams like that I see as a bonus

As I said, it will be a real test for us. I'll be sat waiting for the texts on holiday as we are 7 hours ahead of GMT.
I shan't rest until I know the score

    Morning buddy

Yup , I agree with that . It'll be interesting to see if the team has learnt the lessons from the Cardiff game ie don't give the opposition the time and space to play their football .
