David Moyes says Everton’s new recruit John Stones is a player for the future.

The 18-year-old defender completed his transfer from Barnsley late on Thursday, penning a five-and-a-half year deal.

Moyes is currently without regular right-backs Tony Hibbert and Seamus Coleman and in an exclusive interview with evertontv, the Blues boss said: “We’re pleased. He’s a young boy and I wouldn’t say that it is particularly for now.

“He’s someone that we are bringing in looking towards the future and not for today really.”

They said not. Likely don't want to risk him in a relegation battle and want to get working with him straight away.

If I was Moyes and had decided he wasn't going to feature for them I'd loan him back to us without a second thought. He's come on leaps and bounds this last year and he's only going to get better playing week in week out under Flitcroft.

Sadly, I can see him warming the bench as cover for Jagielka currently.

He will be on the bench for the Sky game at 4pm a week on Sunday against Man United at Old Trafford.

If they loan him out, it will be to a better club

Might be loaned out to Brum or Wolves or Huddersfield. Although I guess we've covered that off in the sale contract......

Aren't football transfers like this barmy. Completely barmy.

Stones loves playing for us. We're desperate to have him play in our side. Everton don't particularly want him or need him at the moment. Everton buy him, Stones doesn't play football any more, we lose a player, Everton gain nothing as they're not going to play him.

Absolutely brilliant result for all concerned. Everyone is so much better off. What a sensational bit of business.

    It's f.cked up.

Stockpiling. Worth them taking the risk on him now for the money they've paid and hope he turns into a ten million one in 5 years time. Crazy.

Aye a bit silly. Look at Butterfield. Loaned out 3 times to Championship clubs. Not even training with Premiership players. Weird.

I love my guitar. I play it every day. Do fancy buying it off me and sticking it in a cupboard?

Then we can all be unhappy. I'll not have my guitar any more. You'll be poorer and have something you don't want. And I'll be able to spend that money on something I don't really want like some new kitchen chairs.

Sounds like a fabulous deal to me.

And they wonder why crowds are dwindling and even die hard fans don't like the game anymore.

Football clubs to become the new Working Mens Clubs ...out of date, out of touch, left with a handful old people too set in their ways to move on. Apart from The Best League In The World that is, cos that's brilliant.

If I polish it every day does it have the potential to be worth a bit in 5 years time?

    And I don't mean w@nking.
