The guy was I think glad of a bit of German chat I think he was wilting after an evening of trying to understand English in packed noisy pubs. The Swiss guy is apparently someone they met on holiday years ago, and he was visiting the Christmas and New Year. They came in the pub on purpose because they knew I would be in, so he could have a chance to speak his own lingo.
